Rondo Theatre Company

Rondo Theatre Company Official page for the Rondo Theatre's resident theatre company. The Rondo Theatre Company is the performing arm of the Rondo Trust.

We usually present several productions each year, both at the Rondo Theatre and highly enjoyable outdoor events at the Royal Victoria Park, Bath. The Company dates back to 1953 when the Everyman Theatre Club met at the Octagon in Bath, the name was then changed to The Octagon Theatre Club. In 1982 the Club began performing at the newly opened Rondo Theatre in Larkhall. Its first production was Hed

da Gabler, followed by a string of highly acclaimed, successful productions. Following the creation of The Rondo Trust, and the first stage of the development of the Rondo Theatre, the Company formalised its relationship with The Trust, and changed its name to The Rondo Theatre Company. It then became the Rondo's resident community theatre group and continues to enjoy performing in this well-respected venue.

Thank you to everyone who came to last week's social play reading. We hope you're excited to see it come to life on stage next year!
We'll be taking a little break next month but will be back in September with another fun programme of playreading fun. 🎭

In the meantime, we're expanding our committee and would love to have YOU with us!
Help us pick, produce and promote our shows, build community and get great behind-the-scenes insights into how the theatre world works.

As a committee member, you will:

- Help oversee the organisation and development of the company and its three yearly productions
- Have the opportunity to act as producer on one of our productions
- Help build and maintain our social media presence and help create marketing materials for our shows
- Attend committee meetings (either in person or virtually) to discuss the progress of our productions and social events (meetings take place once every few months)
- Have the opportunity to run one of our monthly social play readings

Please note that this is an unpaid opportunity.

If you are interested in joining us, please do let us know at [email protected]

We look forward to hearing from you!

🌊 Reminder! 🌊

TOMORROW is our July social where we'll be reading an exciting new cut of Shakespeare's 'The Tempest'.
Our March 2027 director Jazz Hazelwood has worked their magic to get this epic story down to a volant and accessible length and invites you to hear the script aloud ahead of auditions later in the year.

We'll be convening at the Rondo Theatre from 7pm and if you have a smart device (laptop, phone, tablet) to read from, do bring it along to help us lower our carbon footprint!

Everyone is welcome at our socials where we read a play aloud, in full, taking turns with characters and breaking for snacks and chats. You don't have to read if you don't want to and there are no age or gender restrictions on which character you want to read as!

See you tomorrow!

Come along to the Rondo Theatre Co's July social play reading for a sneak preview of our Spring 2027 show - another Shakespeare classic: The Tempest!

πŸ—“οΈ Tuesday 7th July 2026
⏰ 7:00pm for a 7:30 start
πŸ“ Rondo Theatre, Bath, BA1 6RT
🎟️ FREE TO ATTEND

The tale of The Tempest follows Prospero, a deposed Duke living on a mysterious island where he commands spirits and magic. When a ship carrying old enemies sails nearby, Prospero conjures a powerful storm to bring them ashore. As the castaways explore the strange island, secrets surface, alliances shift, and Prospero carefully orchestrates events from the shadows.
The Tempest is the last play Shakespeare wrote entirely by himself (supposedly!) and is widely considered to be his love letter to theatre, beautifully blending music, song and prose.

Jazz Hazelwood-Rose will be at the helm for this one, so expect some gender-queering, silliness, and a dash of chaos. The text has already been stripped back to create a punchy script, with themes both funny and heartfelt. It'll be a very relaxed evening - all you need to bring is yourself and maybe a snack or two to share!

Please note: this isn't an audition, but is a chance for Jazz to see the script in its edited form and for everyone to have a relaxed, sociable evening.

Any questions ahead of time can be emailed to Jazz: jazzghazelwood@gmail

or to the committee:

See you there! Hopefully it won't be quite so sweltering, but there are good fans at the theatre to help set the scene for a raging storm and to keep us cool! πŸ₯΅
