Robin McRoberts Art Robin McRoberts grew up in Belfast, N.Ireland and, at Annadale Grammar School, he was heavily influenced by renowned local artist, the late Richard Croft.

He studied Fine Art at the Edinburgh College of Art and Ulster University and then taught art.

Big paintings are best viewed from a distance but, when you move in close, you get to see and appreciate the palette, the brushstrokes and the use of form and space. ‘The poppies and the cornfield’ is 150x100cms, acrylic on canvas. So sorry to hear that my artistic muse David Hockney died today, aged 88. I felt so priviliged to have seen his major exhibition in Paris last August. It was unbelievably awesome and inspirational. When I was at art college in the 70s, he was the rising star of British art and everyone was talking about him.
