We had the honour of playing our great friend, John, to his final resting place. It was a very emotional day for us all, but also we had so many great memories that got us all through. Today we buried a great member, great friend and a great tea taster

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our dear friend and lifelong member, William John Bailie, affectionately known as Baxter. John dedicated his life to our band, serving with pride in the percussion section. His loyalty, commitment, and friendship never wavered. Outside the band, John was a passionate supporter of Ards Football Club and Glasgow Rangers, and he followed Northern Ireland, travelling as far as Mexico and Spain to cheer on his team. Those adventures gave him many stories to share. John will be remembered not only for his dedication to the band, but also for his wit, charm, and intelligence. He was always ready with a story or a joke, and his company was something we all treasured. On behalf of all members and officers, we extend our deepest sympathy to John’s son Robert, his sister Eileen and the rest of his family. Rest peacefully, Baxter. Your friendship, music, and dedication will never be forgotten.

It is with deep sadness that we were informed this morning of the passing of Willie Beattie, a devoted husband, loving father, proud grandfather, great grandfather and lifelong friend to many.

Willie was the beloved husband of Anna and a much-loved father to Lynne and Sandra. His family meant everything to him, and he will be remembered for his kindness, strength, generosity, and unwavering love for those closest to him.

A proud Lifetime Member of Ballywalter Flute Band, Willie dedicated countless years to the band, where his commitment, loyalty, and friendship earned him the respect and admiration of generations of members. His passion for music and the fellowship of the band left a lasting legacy that will not be forgotten.

Willie touched the lives of so many with his warm smile, gentle nature, and willingness to help others. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, neighbours, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.

His memory will live on in the hearts of those who loved him, and his legacy of dedication, friendship, and family will continue to inspire all who knew him.

Forever loved, forever remembered.
