Eight years ago I was selling cars for a living when I decided to give standup comedy a go. I fell into it at 23 and always felt like a bit of an imposter, and deep down I knew it wasnโt what I wanted to spend the rest of my life doing.
What started as something I just wanted to try has become such a massive part of my life. Itโs given me somewhere to be creative, express myself and get out of my own head when Iโve needed it most.
I still get imposter syndrome now. The difference is Iโm finally doing something I genuinely love, and along the way Iโve managed to live out a few dreams that I knew I was capable of, but never wouldโve happened if I stayed on the showroom floor.
Iโve worked bloody hard to get here, and thereโs still plenty more Iโd love to do in this crazy game called comedy. More on that soon..
But for now, this photo taken just before the doors opened to my solo show in May reminds me how far Iโve come. Itโs not lost on me how lucky I am to have found something that means so much to me. And if Iโve managed to make a few of you laugh along the way, sure thatโs the whole point.
