Hi, my name is Andrew Harding 👋 I was first introduced to clay at Cleveland College of Art in 1977. I studied there for four years and developed a love for throwing which has stayed with me ever since. After college I worked for a potter for 6 years and continued to develop my throwing skills.

Northumbrian Craft Pottery was later established in 1987 by three good friends, Matt Jobling, Michael Palmer and myself. At first we specialised in promotional and commemorative items for places of interest. After a couple of years Matt left to pursue a career of his own. This left Michael and I to continue developing the business where we eventually developed ranges of domestic and functional ware. Sadly, Michael died in 2014 and I have since ran the business as a sole potter. Since then I have developed numerous ranges with a focus on domestic and functional ware.

Northumbrian Craft Pottery have supplied for a wide variety of customers over the years. Some notable past and current clients include the British Museum, Bamburgh Castle, Raby Castle, Lindisfarne Mead, Bosworth Battlefield Heritage Centre, Black Sheep Brewery, North Yorkshire Moors National Park, Northumbria Vikings and many more. I have even created pieces for TV shows such as Wire in the Blood, Catherine Cookson and Beowulf. I also supply for independent galleries, and create individual one off pieces for exhibitions and commissions.
