Asking questions is one of the best parts of visiting an art fair. It deepens your connection to the artwork and often leads to wonderful conversations with the artist. Next time you find yourself drawn to a piece, don’t be shy, start the conversation and let the story unfold.

Here are some great questions to ask an artist when you meet them at our art fair:

👨‍🎨 What Inspires You?
Every piece of art has a story. Asking about inspiration opens the door to hear what sparked the idea—maybe it was a place they visited, an emotion, or even a moment in time. This is where the artwork comes alive.

🖼️ How Do You Create Your Artwork?
Artists all have their own way of working. Learning about their creative process gives you a behind-the-scenes look at the journey from blank canvas to the finished piece.

🎨 What Materials Do You Use?
It’s not only interesting but helpful to know what the artwork is made of—whether it’s oil paint, acrylics, mixed media, or something unexpected! Knowing the materials can affect how the piece looks over time and how best to care for it.

📃 Do You Provide a Certificate of Authenticity (COA)?
A Certificate of Authenticity is like a passport for your artwork. It confirms that your piece is original and created by the artist. This is especially meaningful if you’re building a collection of prints.

🖌️ Do You Create Commissions?

✨🖼️ Discover a world of art, Art Surrey - Epsom Downs Racecourse

Join us at Epsom Downs Racecourse 2-4 October and browse artwork from over 80 artists, both emerging and established, each of whom you will be able to meet, with 3000+ artworks for sale.

Spread over 3 days and opening on the 2nd October at 6pm, visitors will be the first to view the artist's collections of work along with complimentary wine, before the event continues over the weekend. Prices of art start from as little as £50 for prints and smaller works to over £3,000 for outstanding masterpieces - something to suit every budget.

Weekend facilities include a first-floor bar and café/restaurant serving teas, coffee and food throughout Saturday and Sunday. The venue is also wheelchair accessible.

As one of the largest art fairs in the South East of England, Art Surrey is the perfect place to discover your next favourite artwork, whether you’re starting your collection or adding to an existing one.

Known for creating striking three-dimensional artworks from sustainable, repurposed, and recycled materials, Baz earned the nickname The Can Artist through his innovative use of aluminium drink cans. His work is bold, distinctive and often thought-provoking, as he continually pushes the boundaries of materials and artistic techniques.

Baz believes that art should be a journey of experimentation. His creative energy and constant exploration of new ideas culminate in powerful, emotive imagery that captivates viewers.

Whatever he creates, his artworks demand attention, inviting you to look closer, delve deeper and discover the stories hidden within the materials themselves.

£5 weekend entry concessions are available on the door for seniors, students with valid ID and people with disabilities.
