The Brethren of 788 will be there this evening in solidarity with our murdered members and their families.

Redrock LOL 788 lost 2 of our Brethren however that is just the beginning of the story. Three of our Brethren lost their mother/ grandmother to terrorists. A member of Redrock Platoon of the USC was murdered. A brother/ uncle of several Brethren and a Redrock man was murdered.

1st September... Orange Victims Day

Today we pause to remember the 344 known members of the Orange Institution murdered during the terrorist insurgency that was inflicted on our Province from 1968 until this present day.

Tonight we will mark our own loss in Markethill District Loyal Orange Lodge 10 with an evening of reflection and remembrance.

The evening is not a memorial service. After some opening words from our District Master and a short prayer from our District Chaplain, eleven speakers will read a short pen profile on the life of each name on the Memorial Stone.

For most it will be a member of that individuals family who has kindly assented to perform this role.

We will conclude with an Act of Remembrance.

This will be an emotional evening.
Please treat it with the solemnity deserved.

We will begin at 8pm sharp- please arrive early to ensure parking and seating. Please comply with the instructions of stewards both in the car-park and hall.

The Memorial booklet, 'Eleven Names' will be available. There will be no formal announcement or launch of this booklet. In the coming days the District will speak more on this publication.

Orange Brethren, Sisters and Juniors are requested to wear regalia.
Members of the Royal Black Preceptory and Apprentice Boys of Derry are welcome to wear their regalia given many of the eleven names also had membership of those organisations.

District 10 would particularly welcome the presence of our young men and women. It is important they hear and know these stories.

After a short post Twelfth break its time to get your dancing shoes on again in the 'Rock!!!

Join us next Friday night (3rd September) to dance the night away to Alastair Spence! Alastair was with us last year and went down a treat, so we are looking forward to another great night!!!

Redrock is the 'dancing' hall, but sometimes that dancing doesn't suit everyone! Well you have no excuse for this one... Friday 7th August the 'Rock will host a 'Cowboy Country' Disco night with DJ Webber!

All the new country and old country classics, plenty of crack (that's an Ulster-Scots word and its spelt with a K!), and you will even get a good supper!!!!

Our annual fun day is this Saturday!!!! The usual bouncy castles and games, BBq, live music with BB Paul and a suprise visitor as well!!!!! Everyone welcome!!!!!!!!!!

The annual commemoration of the Glenanne Massacre organised by LOL 788 in memory of Brother and friend Bobby Crozier, will this year be held on Monday 1st June (given the anniversary date falls on the preceding Sunday).

This year is a rare occasion- a 'B' Coy veteran will speak on the history of 'B' Company 'Glenanne', of Glenanne Barracks, and of the fateful evening when three of his colleagues had their lives taken from them. He himself witnessing the immediate aftermath.
The three men murdered that night were three of nineteen members of 'B' Coy murdered.

The 'Rock ask men ALL year, but it never does any harm to keep asking! If you want to join (or come back to!) a Lodge that has plenty going on, works for the community and in the community, give us a shout!

This Sunday (19th) is Orange Invitation Day! An initiative from Grand Lodge to encourage those within the ranks of Orangeism to focus on explaining and show-piecing the Institution, in turn making it known they are welcome to join us, in fact directly ask them!

In District 10 it has to be said, we try and encourage Brethren to invite into our Lodges ALL the time. That is probably one of the reasons that in the last 25 years our numbers have risen from 400 to now an all time peak (so far!) of over 550! Nevertheless, we have never been ones to disregard or ignore any initiative that is obviously positive for our organisation and community..... so again we extend an invitation to you to join us!

In Markethill the 'Orange' isn't just about the Twelfth and an odd parade. In Markethill its 365 days a year and involves ALL the community, of all ages, in a vast range of activities and pursuits!!!

In the last 12 month's alongside our parades and services, we have been charity giving, dancing, shooting, drumming, breakfasting, remembering, 'footballing', partying, building, and a whole lot more besides. That doesn't even include the opening of 'The Loft', home of Kilbracks JLOL 75, the first ever dedicated premises for a Junior Orange Lodge!!!

Last night Redrock LOL 788 made the presentation from our annual Tractor Run, auction and raffle held back in December. Each year we pick a worthy cause with a local connection. For 2025, in honour and in memory of Kyle Rountree, our chosen charity was PIPS.

Such has been the generosity of people, our total actually managed to change on the evening itself, making our total on the screen wrong!!! The final tally was...

£16,052.79!!!!!!!

Thank you to all who came along last night, especially to Kyle's family and to the chairman and founder of PIPS Seamus.

And a big thank you too to everyone who supported us. Via donating or buying items in the auction, purchasing raffle tickets, participating in our tractor run, or just donating.... thank you! The generosity and support of our community (and beyond) never ceases to make us all very humbled.
