Our next new collaborator is John Drummond.
“I’ve been flirting with songwriting for many years, uncertain where to begin. Then I discovered The Songwriting Academy. I’d been collecting music across every genre for decades – singer-songwriters, R&B, soul, punk, funk. Anything that inspired movement or moods. When I began I was playing with words, not considering feelings. Then I had a cancer scare and wrote a song called ‘Not Dead Yet’ and my journey began. I met Steve and Amanda at a songwriting week in a little village in the south of Spain and we collaborated on ‘Butterfly’. I had previously been skilled-out of production because songwriting, in my view, involved four key skills – the words, the music, performance and production. And I only had the words. Now I have two outlets. Great collaborative partners and AI, which I see not as a substitute for the human touch but as a tool to release our creativity in new ways. Now I can experiment across all the genres I love.”
