Inspiration comes from my personal experiences in nature.
Whether it’s the summit of Mt Kilimanjaro, Scottish mountains, the African Savannah or Terns on the Farnes, Barn Owls on Druridge Bay or Woodpidgeon against a fantastic sky my work explores the interaction between species and habitat. between the real world and the world of paper and paint.
I am inspired by light, weather, mood and behaviour to create images with a sense of place.

Mine and Bill’s favourite corner of the studio is sitting on my vintage Chesterfield in front of a roaring fire with my best friend next to me.
All plans and schemes, compositions, exhibitions and expeditions originate there.

The countdown to our Spring Shopping Weekend and my open studio at The Old Bath House Studios is on and it’s my turn for the Artist Takeover.
I am Paul Henery, a wildlife and landscape artist working in a variety of media with a focus on painting and printmaking.
You’ll find me at Niche Gallery turning my sketches and paintings, which are all based on fieldwork, into more contemplative studio pieces. I like to work big,such as the Humpback Whale oil painting in the post, which is over 1.5 meters square. However I contrast that with small paintings and field sketches which are perfect for that small wall in need of a splash of colour.

I have a set of 6 prints of map pen drawings by Katie Henery for sale. They feature Amble, Alnmouth, Dunstanburgh/Craster , Bamburgh, Lindisfarne, and the Farne Islands.
