This lower leg sleeve focuses on the majesty and raw energy of African animals. I focused on tiny single needle details while making sure that the big values of shading translate well from a distance also.
It’s decisions like this, and knowing how those details will heal over time, that have been the result of tattooing for years, the result of experience.. not a skill you can buy!!

The thought process behind all the elements included in this healed Hekate tattoo for Chris 🔥

The torch illuminates the darkness, offering support and guidance for those who cannot find their way. She is often also pictured with a dog, or a wolf, which stands watch at crossroads, hence being the guardian for boundaries. It also hints at loyalty and primal energy 🌙

The wheel she holds here signifies the infinite cycle of life, everything that goes up, must come down. Stars are also in her ancestry as the daughter of Asteria, and is an emblem for nocturnal guidance

And of course she is the triple headed goddess- an important reminder in this day and age where youth is prized and there is a war on aging. We are being robbed of all full, gorgeous phases of our lives, maiden, mother and crone / youth, experience and wisdom.

A quick hour oil painting sketch of my gorgeous little boy watching his favourite

I might go back and refine it at a later date but for now I was just happy to spend an hour painting those chubby cheeks

I used a limited palette of 3 colours for this to practise my colour mixing ✨

Initially this started as just a quick study to practise my eye and also to get back into pastels (it’s been a few years since I picked them up)
But it ended up becoming a bit more than that for me
It reminds me of Victorian gothic stories, vampirism, seduction, the fallen woman, witches and women’s strength and power. I wonder if that comes across? It’s always interesting how people read artwork

A lot of people don’t know that my original dream was to be an English Lecturer. I got as far as a Masters before I had a big career change into tattooing.

The past 4 years have been hard for me and our family, but I feel the tide turning 🌙

I still love the written word just as much now, and am rediscovering all those things that make me, Me.

In memory of Angelica 💙
I put together this scene of Angelica coming back home to her Nanny’s garden. She is heading towards the warm light in the house window, along the garden path, through the trees and bushes filled with magical garden ornaments. And as always, bringing magic with her

I was fortunate enough to have something special memories with Angelica, and she will always have a special place in our hearts
