The family of teenage cyclist Finlay Tarling have confirmed the funeral arrangements for the 19-year-old, sharing a deeply touching request for everyone wishing to honour his memory.
A service to remember the rising Welsh sports star, who tragically lost his life while competing in the Volta a Portugal, will take place at Aberystwyth Crematorium on September 17 at 12.30pm.
In an emotional statement released through Beicio Cymru, Finlay's family asked mourners to forgo traditional funeral attire in favour of a true celebration of his vibrant spirit.
Attendees are warmly encouraged to wear whatever they feel comfortable in, with bright colours, sporting tops, cycling jerseys, tracksuits, and sporting hoodies all very welcome.
The service will be followed by refreshments and a celebration of Finlay's life at Ty Glyn, Ciliau Aeron, Lampeter.
For friends, supporters, and members of the wider cycling community unable to make the journey, the family confirmed the service will be streamed live, with link details to be shared nearer the time.
Finlay died following a collision with a van during the eighth stage of the race in Portugal after the vehicle was mistakenly waved onto the course by bystanders who believed all riders had passed.
While an investigation remains ongoing, police have indicated the driver is not expected to face criminal charges.
The heartbreaking loss has deeply moved the sporting world, with tributes paid to the Welsh youngster ahead of the Tour of Britain.
Finlay's older brother Josh showed remarkable courage by starting the Vuelta a Espana in his brother's memory, before making the brave decision to withdraw during stage six to be with his loved ones.
