In improv, a "mistake"—a misheard line, a forgotten detail, or an unexpected reaction—can become the catalyst for a whole new direction in the scene. Performers are trained to accept and build on whatever happens. This principle, known as "Yes, and…", encourages actors to embrace surprises rather than correct them. A mistake becomes the new truth of the scene, opening up unplanned and often hilarious possibilities.
