After a wonderful launch from the stage of Culture Rapide , our creative journey to the Moon is available for you to join online from the comfort of your own home!

Isabel Monk Cade is an actor, producer, and writer of theatre, screenworks, and essay from New York City. Her work has been developed and staged at various NYC institutions including Dixon Place, The Tank, The Barrow Group, Primary Stages, Naked Angels, among others. Additional performance credits include: NEW INC @ The New Museum, CSC, Irish Rep, The Vineyard Theatre, Cape May Stage, Centenary Stages. Her original solo works have appeared at El Barrio’s Artspace PS109, The Makers Ensemble, and The Center at West Park. She is currently preparing the New York City premiere of her solo show MY WAY [the morning-after-pill, a retrospective] with Baba Rose. Despite this very serious picture of her, she is eager to hopefully make some Parisiens ugly-laugh-out-loud with her personal essay as she returns to Paris Lit Up!

Join us at Culture-Rapide Cabaret-Populaire on Thursday for our weekly open mic night. Sign-up starts at 20:00 and performances at 21:00. This week we will be celebrating the launch of a special Moon-themed issue of the Paris Lit Up Gazette (PLUG.)

The PLUG is a fully online, yearly publication by Paris Lit Up featuring poetry, prose, and now visual art by contributors from Paris and around the world. This third issue was co-edited by Raija Heikkilä ( ), Quitterie Gounot (), and our lovely guest editor, Sue Burge ( . The Moon theme was inspired by a wonderful writing workshop Sue hosted for PLU.

The night will feature readings by both published and shortlisted authors from this issue, including Sue Burge, Amanda Michaela, Kelly Pham, Lady Godiva, Bina Emanvel, Liz Duff Young, Jon Baird, debanjana, Alexa Goins, and Stanislav Stempniewicz.

Join us at Culture-Rapide Cabaret-Populaire on Thursday for our weekly open mic night. Sign-up starts at 20:00 and performances at 21:00. This week we will have Grae J. Wall & Richard Earls as feature!

With decades of gigs, books, poems, and records behind them, Grae J. Wall and Richard Earls often seemed to tread the same boards but at different times - punk’s Oranges & Lemons and 100 Club, Ronnie Scott's and Apples & Snakes on the 1980s jazz and comedy circuit, and festivals like Glastonbury and Boomtown. Grae shared stages with John Cooper Clarke and TV Smith, while Richard refined his spoken word at Frome and Wells Festival of Literature.

Their paths finally crossed in the mid-2000s at The Big Untidy in Reading. Now, they're on the road with Beat - Punk - Blues: an evening of music and poetry that entertains, provokes, and invites you to sing, dance - and join the revolution.

Join us at Culture-Rapide Cabaret-Populaire on Thursday for our weekly open mic night. Sign-up starts at 20:00 and performances at 21:00. This week we will have James Hamilton Lowrie as feature!

James Hamilton Lowrie is a multidisciplinary artist based in Toronto, Canada. He is music critic and educator for the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC) and Tempo Magazine bringing a ludic tone to the sometimes-stuffy world of music theory. He is currently in a Doctorate in music composition at the University of Toronto.

He also has over a decade of experience as stand up comedian, performing at the Comedy Bar in Toronto, the Laugh Factory in Chicago, The Stand in Glasgow and even on Don't Tell Comedy in Paris. As he is currently going through the process of kidney failure and transplant, he is interested in exploring a distinctly surreal and obscene approach to crip humour. He also writes poetry sometimes, which you may hear if you come to this show.

Josh Cake is a poet from Melbourne, Australia who now lives in Edinburgh, Scotland. Josh has won the Peseroff Poetry Prize from the University of Massachusetts, was named the Most Impactful Poet by the Australian Enterprise Awards in both 2024 and 2025, and has just been named Poet of the Year 2025 by the Livewire Global Awards.

With publications including Breakwater Review, Poetry Scotland: Gallus, Dante Oggi, and Cordite, Josh has performed poetry at several major festivals, including Glastonbury Festival, Edinburgh Fringe, and Sonic Poetry Festival, as well as features in Paris, Berlin, Warsaw, Brussels, Marrakech, London, Edinburgh, Melbourne, and New York. Josh teaches poetry writing and performance at universities and literary festivals as well as private coaching.

Josh is currently touring a spoken word album called my poems pay taxes; my taxes buy weapons; my weapons kill poets.

LOCATION CHANGE: For one week only, on account of the Grand Poetry Slam, Paris Lit Up's open mic will be taking place out in the open, not at Culture Rapide, but under the arches of the Belvédère de Belleville, just above Parc de Belleville. The event will be the same as usual, with sign up from 8pm, and poems starting at 9pm. Feel free to bring your own drinks, and wrap up warm!
