Rafik Greiss (b. 1997, IE) is an Egyptian artist based in Paris, France, and Cairo, Egypt. He graduated from New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts in 2020. His work has been exhibited internationally at venues including the Gwangju Biennale (Gwangju, 2026), Istanbul Biennial (Istanbul, 2025), Kunsthalle Zürich (Zürich, 2024), the Swiss Institute (New York, 2023), and Balice Hertling (Paris), among others. His first solo exhibition was held at Galerie Balice Hertling in 2021.

Featuring works by Antonio López (Antonio), Barbara Goldmann (Barbara.Goldmann), Chaeheun Park (), Jean-François Lauda (Jean-François Lauda), Michael Kennedy Costa (Michael Kennedy Costa), Minh Lan Tran (Minh-Lan Tran), Mona Welch (Mona Welch) and Wilson Miller (Wilson)

Taking its title from Andy Warhol’s Shadow Paintings, Shadow of a Doubt explores the peculiar nature of the shadow: both the recognizable trace of a presence and an abstract form in its own right.

It was during a sailing crossing of the Mediterranean — on the boat where he lives and works — that an encounter with a Sicilian fisherman gave rise to an informal agreement. Beginning as a simple transaction, then a negotiation, the exchange gradually shifted into a mutual understanding, without guarantees or precise contours. The promise had to be sustained, and so it transformed.

The exhibition 𝙏𝙤𝙩𝙖𝙣𝙤 brings together a series of works that carry the memory of this agreement as much as the desire to honor it.

Exhibition views from "Des villes au fond d’un lac", a major retrospective of Simone Fattal’s work at the Musée d’Art Moderne de Paris.

Bringing together more than one hundred works, the exhibition spans over fifty years of the Lebanese-American artist’s practice, from her early landscape paintings to ceramics, collages and bronzes. It marks Fattal’s first monographic exhibition in France.

Simone Fattal (b. 1942, Damascus, Syria) lives and works in Paris. Recent solo exhibitions include Museo Jumex, Mexico City (2026); Museo Madre, Naples (2025); IVAM, Valencia (2024–25); Musée du Louvre, Paris (2024–25); and Secession, Vienna (2024). Her work has also been presented at the 18th Istanbul Biennial and Aichi Triennale (2025), as well as the Holy See Pavilion at the 60th Venice Biennale (2024). Her first retrospective, Works and Days, was presented at MoMA PS1, New York, in 2019.

On the occasion of Morgan Courtois’s current exhibition "Essence" at the gallery, Balice Hertling is pleased to present a conversation between the artist and Zoe Stillpass, curator at Centre Pompidou-Metz.

The conversation will explore Courtois’s practice and the works exhibited, touching on the artist’s approach to materials, form, transformation and the different references that inform his work.

The conversation will be held in French.

In “Dubtraction”, Erwan Sene (FR,1991) brings sculpture, sound and architecture into a speculative environment shaped by processes of transformation. Working with found materials, voices and frequencies, Sene constructs a space that seems to exist somewhere between an industrial landscape and its aftermath.

Rather than treating ruins as endpoints, Sene approaches them as sites from which other narratives—and other possible urban futures—can emerge. Familiar objects and materials become subtly estranged, while sound operates as a material presence in its own right, moving through and reorganizing the space.
Sene’s multidisciplinary practice moves between sculpture, sound, installation and music, often repurposing existing materials and everyday objects to construct environments in which the familiar becomes unstable. His first solo exhibition with Balice Hertling, Zona Gargantua, was presented in Paris in 2023.
