Impro Supreme Improvisation training for the stage. Body • Attention • Imagination Impro Supreme offers structured training for improvisers, actors and performers.

The work is based on the body, attention and imagination. It is rooted in physical practice and focuses on how meaning on stage emerges through action, presence and choice. Impro Supreme offers:
– in-person workshops
– structured online training
– writings and reflections on practice

The approach is rigorous, physical and cumulative. It is not about techniques or tricks, but about developing a precise, individual way of working. Founded in Paris in 2010 by Caspar Schjelbred. Based in Copenhagen. Working internationally.

The way you think about improvisation shapes the way you improvise. I think that’s why I find so much improvisation incredibly boring. It’s the product of lazy, conventional thinking. Listen, accept, why of course. And then build the same old thing the same old way for the umpteenth time. Serve the story? What story? Subjugate yourself to your own compulsive projections of the immediate future. Yes, and that’s why I’m hit with instant depression when I catch myself drifting back into the old mode.

That’s also why I’m thrilled to be back training. Stirring things up. At home. On any given morning.

The residual benefits in everyday life are non-negligible.

”The show is wonderfully interactive without feeling high-pressure. Caspar plays with the crowd, guiding everyone through simple exercises right from their seats.”

“The Supreme Art of Improvisation is funny, clever, and it exposes real secrets of improv, that you haven’t thought of before.”

No, I did not invent those quotes myself. I was just sent a review of my recent performance in Tallinn Fringe :D

Shiny happy people after PURE IMPRO! last week in Tallinn. They inspired me to scrap my show and replace it with… what I asked them to do: improvisation as pure as it gets. Self-sustained. Not waiting for anything or anyone.

The patient and dedicated SUBSTANCE participants (+ one slow mover) a week ago in Tallinn!

It inspired me to pick up my own Six Viewpoints practice again. Oh TIME! Oh SPACE! Oh Mary!
