MLet me tell you the Story about "The Skeleton Player"
Martin Andrew is a farmer's son. He grew up on a farm where his parents produced food and spent most of his holidays as a youngster working with them. He didn't have a childhood like many children have had to have fun. The only time he relaxed was in the evening with his father playing card games by the fire.
He became interested in poker in his teens and often played a few games with his father's friends at game nights. And it has to be said that he is not very good at it. Martin participates as best he can in his poker games but he is often one of the losers. This makes his father very angry because he plays with the family's money.
At the age of 21 Martin decides to study and moves to the university where he decides to study psychology.
From this point on, he began to develop a reputation as a good poker player.
Since Martin doesn't have his family near him like many of his friends, he gets together with several friends on Friday evenings to play pokers like he used to do with his father. And he wins after win.
So how does he do it?
Well, there are two explanations, the first is that compared to many of his friends he has been playing for a while so he has more experience. But what makes the difference is that Martin is very good at studying and he can read his opponents like nobody else can.
He then started to play in small tournaments in his region where he won little by little, and he started to make a small reputation at local level.
After graduating, he set up his own practice with his wife, named Jenny. At the same time Martin started to participate in competitions which he won thanks to his talents.
Until one day he unknowingly finds himself in a game with members of the local mafia. And for Martin it's still a crushing victory, and no one can win against him.
Two weeks later Martin is visited by a patient in his office who turns out to be one of the players he met during his last game. And in revenge he decides to set the place on fire. At the time Martin had gone downstairs to have his coffee in the bar across the street. When he sees the flames escaping from his office he runs to help his wife. When he arrives at the scene, the air is almost unbreathable and he sees his wife passed out on the floor. He tries to pull her out but he falls to the ground several times and ends up fainting.
When he wakes up in the hospital, Martin learns that he has been severely burned in the face. But the worst part of the story is that his wife did not survive.
He became depressed. He started drinking ans smoking, stopped working because his face frightened people and decided to disappear for more than a year.
One day during the annual poker tournament of the town a man shows up with a skeleton skull under the name of Skelleton player. Unbeknownst to anyone, Martin had just returned to the city to play in the tournament. And as usual he won. And when he got to the final he won with a J and a Q.
It was a sign for him. The J for Jenny and the Q because she was his queen. At the end of the game he asked to keep his two cards which he decided to carry with him every day in the front right pocket of his suit.
