It's been a long time since I played around with cards or had any interest in buying a new deck.
But this week while in Marseille I felt the call to explore the very particular symbols and aesthetics of the elder ancestor deck of cartomancy.
I tried a number of shops to pick up the eponymous cards the city is famous for, but bizarrely they were either closed, or had run out of them!
And while I celebrate labour laws and am happy to see people take their annual holidays, it was a tad strange.
I finally found a second hand one in a librairie esoterique, with a tattered box but perfect cards, and missing the little booklet.
Perfect for me!
I usually discard the boxes anyway, and keep the cards in soft pouches.
(And my pervasive drive for autonomy / demand avoidance would likely have me reject anything a booklet purported to know of me anyway.)
But most importantly, the cards are merely energy anchors, to play with archetypes, and access my own gnosis.
Nothing is more precious than being led back to your own body and being, and your direct knowing.
And like everything, the cards are merely something we are in relationship with.
Maybe the ultimate divination deck to seek out, is me and you ;)
