Performance no. 3 of Simon Boccanegra tonight at the . For each performance, I’ve decided to share something you may not know about this remarkable opera.

Verdi first composed the opera in 1857, but it was not a success. More than twenty years later, he completely reworked it together with Arrigo Boito, creating the version we perform today. One of the most celebrated additions was the magnificent Council Chamber Scene, now considered one of the great moments in all of Verdi’s repertoire.
In less than half an hour, we take the stage once again at , and I look forward to sharing this extraordinary masterpiece with tonight’s audience.
