A Message from the Festival Team 🤝🎥

Imagine this: You’re living a quiet life when a team of Soviet officials shows up to tell you that things are about to change. Then, a few decades later, someone comes to announce that this time, you’ve switched to the capitalist model. And then comes global warming, which you’re witnessing firsthand.

Through breathtaking landscapes, the filmmakers take us to these steppes where the inhabitants see their ancestral way of life threatened by this “big something” that they never caused.

You have to see *Dzud, the Breath of the Steppes* to understand the impact of these upheavals on the landscapes and the people.

Fabio Caldironi masters the aesthetics of his films the way one would pamper a lost squirrel: with love.

He pays close attention to the visuals and cinematography and works with light like a master craftsman.

Add to that the presence of Tobias Nuytten (yes, the one we’ve already seen in *Biche*) and you’ve got the perfect mix for a great film.
