Scenes from the devastating blaze that swept through the main market, one of the busiest commercial hubs in southern Guinea. Flames raced through tightly packed stalls and shops, fed by wooden structures, stored goods, and narrow passages that made containment extremely hard.
Hundreds of shops/conteners fully burned; official estimates put damage at over 9.8 billion Guinean francs — millions of USD. Traders lost years of savings, stock, electronics, textiles, food, and equipment; many have no insurance.
No reported deaths, but panic, injuries, and looting added to the suffering. Delays and lack of firefighting gear let the fire spread fast; local residents stepped in to help instead.
Thoughts & prayers with everyone affected — may recovery come quickly and help arrive soon.💔🕊️
