Tadra in the i-Taukei language means Dream and Kahani in Hindustani means Story - together the "Dream Story Stage Show". Tadra-Kahani is a show that is about young people between the ages of 6 and 19 years expressi
ng a positive theme using creative arts in dance and music. Tadra-Kahani provides an opportunity for these young people to produce a piece of live entertainment set to contemporary music. Participants learn about the numerous elements of producing a production from design & music, choreography & set building to budget & fundraising. One of the objectives of Tadra-Kahani is of fun, entertainment and team building. Tadra-Kahani is a partnership between Communications Fiji Ltd radio networks; FM96, LegendFM, Navtarang, Sargam & VitiFM and event management company; the Total Event Company. THE AIMS OF TADRA-KAHANI ARE:
* To encourage teenagers to live a healthy lifestyle.
* To provide the opportunity for students to experience the excitement of producing and performing a full scale production in a professional environment.
* To provide the opportunity for young people to learn about the many elements of production; music, dance, staging, design, set bulding, make-up, costumes, budgets, fundraising, creativity, hard work, enthusiasm, knowledge and working as a team.
* To teach, in a positive reinforcing way that excellence is achieved through application of creativity, hard work, enthusiasm and co-operation.
* To assist in the education process by increasing self-esteem, and a healthy lifestyle through a positive, fun experience.
* To assist in their social development in creating an awareness of issues that they are able to influence in their lives. HOW TADRA-KAHANI WORKS:
Each school selects a theme based on what they believe to be important and meaningful to them - issues and themes that they think needs public awareness. They then set their theme to music and dance. Their performance must 'tell a story' related to their chosen theme. Each performance is between 8 and 10 minutes and is judged on;
