🌸Sa mai takasa na salusalu ciriyawa mai Natuicake kina na yanuyanu ni Vilavilairevo ena baravi ko Naduruvesi 🔐
Today marked a significant and beautiful milestone for Tokatoka Jiliva of Mataqali Naduruvesi, from the village of Rukua in Beqa, as they traditionally welcomed another daughter into their family.
Through customary proceedings, they formally sought the hand of Adi Vakamino Salaseini Vulaca (i-Lakovi) of Yavusa Yaro, Mualevu, Vanua Balavu in Lau, who is now bound in union to Samisoni Bolatagici Turagaluvu.
The occasion was conducted in two important traditional sessions. The first was ibulubulu taki, the act of seeking forgiveness from Adi Vakamino’s family and vanua. This was done in acknowledgement that Adi Vakamino had already been embraced and adopted into the Turagaluvu family prior to the formal request for her hand in marriage.
The ceremony then continued with the traditional request for her hand where she said YES before the Vanua requested her again from her family, known as kali ni sucu, symbolically severing her ties of responsibility from her birth family. This was followed by roqoti, where she was formally taken back to the Tokatoka Jiliva. This occasion marks the final customary obligation for her family to bear.
From this day forward, the Turagaluvu family of Rukua, Beqa, assume full responsibility for Adi Vakamino, including the completion of her studies, preparations for her marriage, and all future matters concerning her welfare.
Samisoni shares maternal links to Malaita in the Solomon Islands while Adi Vakamino’s mother is from Yaroi, Matuku in Lau.
