It’s happening! Our Summer Satellite is taking shape in Billnäs!
At First Blush 28.6.–23.8.2026
Opening party 27.6. 15–18

Lokal returns to the idyllic 1800’s ironworks village of Billnäs at the peak of summer; this time in a new location – an old spade factory – just across the street from last year’s venue. As a continuation and a homecoming of Lokal’s exhibition A Prima Vista at 3daysofdesign in Copenhagen this coming June, the expanded group exhibition At First Blush is a celebration of the feeling that wells up in one’s being at the sight of a new love, with the awakening of a new season, or as an artist discovers a new expression. The theme of the exhibition is the blossoming of new life in late spring and early summer – that annual miracle. In typical Lokal fashion, the group exhibition consists largely of worlds and work ensembles that combine the traditions of fine arts, refined craftsmanship and collectible design.

Ville Aakula, Timo Andersson, Arni Aromaa, Sophia Ehrnrooth, Anni Eckermann, Paul Flanders, Saija Halko, Paavo Halonen, Antrei Hartikainen, Hemmo Honkonen, Sasha Huber, Heli Juuti, Matias Karsikas, Aimo Katajamäki, Eija Koski, Tatu Laakso, Nathalie Lautenbacher, Emil Lyytikkä, Waltter Mahlberg, Raija Malka, Outi Martikainen, Jaakko Mattila, Santeri Mortti, Didi NG Wing Yin, Iines Niemelä, Rasmus Palmgren, Riikka Peltola, Riikka Piippo, Tuula Pöyhönen, Carlo Raymann, Aleksi Remsu, Jenni Rope, Eemeli Sahimaa, Mirella Salo, Petri Saarikko, Teemu Salonen, Renata Schirm, Armi Teva, Aino Tillonen, Milla Vaahtera, Sini Villi

This exhibition has been enabled by support from Sofie von Julins stiftelse, NIKARI, Cover Story & Ramirent.

Antrei Hartikainen | AMALGAM (2026) & Symbiosis (2026) sculptures, linden & mouthblown-glass • As part of our summer exhibitions At First Blush • Lokal Annankatu Gallery + Lokal Billnäs Satellite + www.lokalhelsinki.com

Antrei Hartikainen (b. 1991) is a master cabinetmaker and designer from Fiskars, known for his exquisite works in wood. His award-winning pieces, including functional products and pure artworks, achieve heights of sensuality and elegance, and highlight the importance of craftsmanship. His work constantly challenges and blurs the traditional categorisations between functional objects and visual arts. Hartikainen’s sculptural approach can be studied through his organic body of work, which simultaneously highlights the inspiration drawn from his material of choice — wood.

WHITE WALL | Onni Alanko: On a Detour 3.–2.8.2026 • Lokal Gallery + www.lokalhelsinki.com

Onni Alanko’s works examine the relationship between perception, memory and painting. The starting points of the works are everyday situations, spatial experiences and fragments of memory, which are transformed into ambiguous pictorial structures during artistic work. The experimental painting process is a central part of the works. Layering, experimenting, removing and rebuilding remain visible parts of the formation of the image. The end result is not predetermined, but is built guided by intuition, chance and material. The works move on the interface between the representational and the abstract. They refer to recognisable shapes and spaces, but avoid precise definition and open up space for the viewer’s own interpretation.

Onni Alanko is a Helsinki-based visual artist whose work focuses on painting and urban space. His works are based on observations made in the urban environment and experienced phenomena. Alanko examines the construction, wear, tear and change of spaces, as well as the interaction between humans and nature in their formation.
