Suomalais-malilainen Sinimuso puhuu naisten oikeuksien ja naismuusikkouden puolesta. Yhteisen musiikillisen kielen puute opetti bändin jäsenille, että joskus omasta ideasta irti päästäminen on paras vaihtoehto.

So nice memories!

Marjo Smolander, musician and music pedagogue from North Carelia Finland

Finnish musician and music pedagogy Marjo Smolander was born in 1986 in Rääkkylä, a tiny village in Northern Carelia. As a child Marjo was strongly influenced by Finno-Ugric music. She plays the Finnish traditional instrument called Kantele

Thanks to her childhood Marjo is firmly rooted in the Finnish musical tradition. She has two master degrees in Folk music (Sibelius Academy, Finland)) and Global music (Royal music of Aarhus, Denmark). She has also a degree in music pedagogy. Since 2006 Marjo has been traveling between Finland, Senegal and Mali studying and doing music with local musicians. She finds West African music highly intriguing. Marjo’s songs are jagged stories from the life, strong presence with many-sided arrangements.
