R.I.P Nedra Talley, the last surviving member of one of the greatest and most successful girl groups of the 60's, The Ronettes, passed away earlier today age 80. Sending condolences to her family, friends and all those who loved her 💜

"It is with heavy hearts that we share the news of Nedra Talley Ross’ passing. She was a light to those who knew and loved her.

As a founding member of The Ronettes, along with her beloved cousins Ronnie and Estelle, Nedra’s voice, style and spirit helped define a sound that would change music. Her contribution to the group

Not much pictures sorry 😔 no money to pay a professional photographer but sincerely don't forget that I have been documenting parties, festivals and shows for decades.... For free mainly.

And don't forget that LadyBeat is more than a party 🎉 is a cultural project focused on women shaping pop culture. That was always my field of research as I have been involved in that for decades. So sorry this is not about a trending thing, this is about a way of life that some of us took decades ago. I feel really offended seeing "trend setters" or "vein influencers" digging in our scene.

Cześć! Soy Julia. Llevo mi maleta de discos de un sitio a otro, sobre todo por Lavapiés y Malasaña, disfrutando de cada pista y de la gente que la llena.
En mis sesiones viajo por los sonidos de los 70 y 80, mezclando new wave, power pop y punk, sin olvidarme de esos clásicos infalibles que todos hemos bailado.

Ha hecho suya la noche en La Vía Láctea, El Sol, Wurlitzer o Fun House. Fue dueña de Weirdo Bar, refugio secreto del underground madrileño.
Su firma ha sonado en Azkena Rock, FIB, Low o Rock Nights Ibiza o el aftershows de leyendas como Richard Lloyd (Television).
Himnos, rarezas, tesoros olvidados: cada sesión es un guiño cómplice al underground.

Soy PaulAnka (aunque fuera de la cabina me llamo Ania). Vengo de Polonia y llevo 14 años viviendo en Madrid. Empecé pinchando en bares de Gdańsk y ahora mis sesiones suenan entre Lavapiés y Malasaña, en sitios como Olivia, Huelga, Madre Flaca, Horacio o Fun House.
Pincho sobre todo música de los años 80 (y sonidos que beben de esa época), con la que crecí y que todavía me conecta con mi país: punk 77, post-punk, new wave, italo disco y electro. Me gustan las guitarras, pero siempre que inviten a pista baile. Por eso también se cuelan en mis sesiones garage de los 60 y garage de los 90.
En mi colección mandan los grupos con mujeres al frente, bandas con una sensibilidad especial, algo desafiante, que no encajan del todo y justo por eso me parecen maravillosas. A veces suena alguna joya llegada desde Polonia.

¡Empezamos con las presentaciones!

Es un L U J A Z O haber sido invitada a pinchar unos temas al Lady Beat Fest. Yo soy madrileña aunque me considero ciudadana del mundo. Siempre me han apasionado los ritmos negros y eso es exactamente lo que puedes encontrar en mis sets. A mi vuelta a Madrid, co- fundé junto con Irma la Douce el club de Djs femenino “Here Come The Girls” He pinchado en bastantes eventos y festivales, como el Mojo Workin´(Donosti), Jazzaldia (Donosti), Long John Baldry (Southampton, UK), Ready Steady Go (Baiona, FR), Beltza Weekend (Pamplona), Ebroclub (Miranda de Ebro) y en clubes y bares de León (Rock & Roll Circus y Gran Café), Barcelona (Marula Café, A Wamba Buluba Club), Donosti (Eiger, A Fuego Negro), Vitoria (Hell Dorado) y Madrid (La Huelga de Lavapies, 4 Latas, Mongo Scifi, Fun House, etc). Y ahí van unos temas que últimamente no paran de sonar en mi cabeza:
