VÄLKOMMEN TILL “FAMILY TIES”
Du är varmt välkommen till vernissagen av
grupputställningen “Family Ties” torsdagen den
6 augusti kl 18.00-21.00 hos SLVRBRGS i Malmö.

Madrid baserade Tönnheim Gallery gästspelar i Malmö
tillsammans med den lokala konstsamlaren Patrik
Hallberg i form av utställningen Family Ties som äger
rum hos SLVRBRGS på Skomakaregatan 9, samt pågår
till och med den 1 september.

“Family Ties” har en inbyggd dubbel betydelse eftersom “ties/band” kan betyda både kopplingar och saker samt tillstånd som binder eller begränsar. Kärlek, tillhörighet, lojalitet, DNA och gemensam historia –
de band som ger människor identitet, trygghet, kontakter och stöd. Men även; Förpliktelse, förväntan, sammanvävning och svårighet att bryta sig fri och fly sitt förflutna – de band som kan begränsa möjligheter, frihet eller hålla människor fast vid en ohälsosam dynamik och en destruktiv historik. Dess nyanser och inverkan beror på kontexten, men den är ofta kraftfull och högst relevant för ens tillvaro – just för att båda betydelserna samexisterar.

WELCOME TO “FAMILY TIES”
You are warmly invited to the opening of the
group exhibition ”Family Ties” on Thursday,
August 6, from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM at SLVRBRGS in Malmö.

The Madrid-based Tönnheim Gallery is making a guest
appearance in Malmö alongside local art collector
Patrik Hallberg with the exhibition ”Family Ties,”
hosted at SLVRBRGS (Skomakaregatan 9) and running
through September 1.

”Family Ties” carries a built-in double meaning, as ”ties” can refer to connections as well as things or states that bind or restrict. Love, belonging, loyalty, DNA, and shared history - the bonds that provide people with identity, security,connections, and support. Yet also: obligation, expectation, entanglement, and the difficulty of breaking free or escaping one’s past—bonds that can limit opportunities and freedom, or keep people trapped in unhealthy dynamics and destructive histories. Its nuances and impact depend on the context, yet it is often powerful and highly relevant to one’s existence—precisely because both meanings coexist.

Alehk Rod (Madrid, 1993) is a multidisciplinary artist whose practice encompasses painting, textile installation, and digital exploration. Her work investigates perception and the ways in which memory may materialize through form, texture, and color. After beginning her career in painting, her interest in processes of image construction gradually led her toward the textile field, where crochet and tufting have become fundamental tools of inquiry. Between Madrid and Ibiza, Rod develops a visual language that explores the relationship between body, space, and sensory experience, moving the image toward territories where the tactile, the intuitive, and the material assume a central role.

Alehk Rod (Madrid, 1993) es una artista multidisciplinar cuya práctica abarca la pintura, la instalación textil y la exploración digital. Su trabajo investiga la percepción y las formas en que la memoria puede materializarse a través de la forma, la textura y el color. Tras iniciar su trayectoria en la pintura, su interés por los procesos de construcción de la imagen la condujo progresivamente al ámbito textil, donde el crochet y el tufting se han convertido en herramientas fundamentales de investigación. Entre Madrid e Ibiza, Rod desarrolla un lenguaje visual que explora la relación entre cuerpo, espacio y experiencia sensorial, desplazando la imagen hacia territorios donde lo táctil, lo intuitivo y lo material adquieren un papel central.
