Off to Spain!! I’m elated to be accepted into the artist in residency program at Joya: arte + ecología (). It’ll be five weeks abroad starting late August where I’ll get to really focus on my own work and animate in the vast landscapes of Andalucía, Spain. What a dream.

9.7.2020 5:30pm I ran up Mount Islip (with gear and against the advice of my lungs) to see and film the fast approaching flames. Half of hwy 2 had already been closed, and the fire was just getting started. I decided I was insane at precisely 7:25pm, packed up, and ran back in the pitch black...in flip flops.

A long hike, a heavy pack, a quick swim, and a lovely place to animate. No harm done during animation, as collected branches were hung only with ropes and counterweights. Thanks to Ana for assisting and being patient with my hair brain.

NZ 2019 - *with sound!* I animated this in the wee hours after sleeping on the side of the road in a beat up station wagon. The beaches are so long and patient near the Abel Tasman National Forest, but don’t think you can ‘go grab a bagel real quick’ because that tricky tide has other plans.

*Sound On!* Here’s the video I made to showcase the logo of .
Notes: I needle felted the puppet with an internal wire system for animating his chest cavity. Turns out jelly balls (frog eggs) are a bitch to animate, but I rigged them up with thrones of hot glue shaped like Cheerios to keep their slimy butts in check. The tadpole transformation was made from like 30 separate pieces of flat felt hand cut for replacement animation. Lastly, the goo!! I used glow in the dark Elmer’s glue shot under a black light. Obviously a super fun project that didn’t help my reputation for *not* being a weirdo.
