It’s interesting to see how this article has been received. No one can dispute the success Yann has had, but only fools will believe that his success has been hard earned. I was one of those who enjoyed the DC10 after party on Playa d’en Bossa, when Ushuaia was but a beach bar. I have also lived side by side with the development of Yann’s company, as it consumed that area, including my favourite place on the planet - Space Ibiza. I don’t have any particular dislike for him, as I don’t know him at all. Neither do I think bad of anyone who has been in his employment. Suffice to say, if you want to work in the music industry of Ibiza, Yann is one of your target employers. However, frankly, I do find it a bit nauseating to see people commenting on the Vanity Fair post with words of recognition or multiple emojis. Sadly, and in a very rare dive into the Instagram world, I have also seen people I know and respect using their profiles to ‘Hi-5’ a man who needs no encouragement. As with everything there are differing perspectives, personally I think his personal success represents everything that is wrong with this island, but there will be others who disagree. One thing I’ve never understood with Yann is: if you’ve never really had an emotional connection with the ‘dance floor’, what qualifies you to dictate what happens there? And it’s not just you Yann, I could present the same question to people (who I know) that work for you. I apologise for being crude, but by now you must have gotten tired of the tongues licking at your A hole, and you must accept that your success is intrinsically linked to the failure and destitution of a huge number of more creative, more compassionate and less greedy individuals. By all means bask in the social media spotlight, and the crassly ‘balanced’ bo****ks put out on Vanity Fair by Max Marshall, but read the comments - there are a lot of people who see through your hustle. At best, The Night League is a well-drilled concierge/artist liaison outfit, at worst it is sucking the soul out of a beautiful island culture, and pumping back utter musical tripe. Just my opinion, and what does that matter to you… when you’re a billionaire?
