17 May is the day!!!

📆 Zaterdag 17 mei | Goede Rede, Almere Haven

🎶 Seldom Sene is back!
We are thrilled to return to the stage on May 17 during the Dag van de Oude Muziek in Almere!

Together with the amazing Daniel Elgersma - countertenor, we’ll be performing our program: Fortune Infortune - Step into the refined and emotional sound world of Margaret of Austria, one of the most powerful women of the Renaissance. Fortune Infortune brings together exquisite chansons from her court – a rich tapestry of love, loss, and power, expressed through intimate and elegant polyphony. Her unique collection of songs offer a rare glimpse into the cultural life of a remarkable historical figure. A must-have for lovers of early music, history, and female voices from the past.

Seldom Sene starts the new year with another video release from our album Fortune Infortune - A portrait of Margaret of Austria (Brilliant Classics • 96513).

This time it is the last part of the impressive ‘Cueurs desolez / Dies illa’, attributed to the court composer Pierre de la Rue.

The text mourns the death of one of Margaret’s counselors, Jean de Luxembourg (1477-1508). Although the text is sad and contemplative, there is also hope and comfort to be derived from the ingenious, magical counterpoint in this composition!

Seldom Sene wishes everyone a hopeful 2025!
