On this sacred day of Guru Purnima, I bow my head with the deepest gratitude to all those who have illuminated my life with their love, wisdom, guidance, and blessings.
🌸 To my beloved parents, my first Gurus, who taught me the values of kindness, discipline, respect, and perseverance. Every achievement in my life is rooted in the sacrifices and unconditional love you gave me. I offer my heartfelt pranams.
🌸 To my first dance Guru, Sirimathi Rasadari, thank you for opening the doors of Kathak to me and nurturing my first steps in this beautiful art. Your guidance laid the foundation of my lifelong journey.

🌕🙏 Guru Purnima: Honouring the Eternal Tradition of the Guru 🙏🌕

Guru Purnima, also known as Vyasa Purnima, is one of the most revered observances in the Indian spiritual, philosophical, and artistic traditions. Celebrated on the full moon (Purnima) of the month of Ashadha, this sacred day is dedicated to expressing gratitude to the Guru—the guide who awakens wisdom, nurtures character, and leads the disciple from ignorance to knowledge.

The Sanskrit word Guru is traditionally understood as "Gu" (darkness) and "Ru" (the remover), symbolizing the one who dispels the darkness of ignorance through the light of knowledge. The guru is not merely an instructor but a mentor who shapes the intellect, refines the spirit, and inspires a life of discipline, humility, and self-realization.

The historical origins of Guru Purnima are associated with Maharishi Veda Vyasa, one of the greatest sages of ancient India. Revered as the Adi Guru (the primordial teacher), Vyasa is credited with compiling the four Vedas, composing the Mahabharata—which contains the sacred Bhagavad Gita—and authoring the eighteen Puranas and the Brahma Sutras. His immense contribution to preserving and transmitting India's spiritual and philosophical heritage is why this day is celebrated as Vyasa Purnima.

The Guru–Shishya Parampara (teacher–disciple tradition) has been the foundation of Indian knowledge systems for thousands of years. Whether in philosophy, music, dance, literature, yoga, or spiritual practice, knowledge has traditionally been transmitted through a living relationship based on trust, discipline, devotion, and lifelong learning.

In Kathak, this tradition is the very soul of the art. Every tatkar, every tihai, every abhinaya, and every composition carries the wisdom of generations of gurus who have carefully preserved and passed on this magnificent classical dance tradition. As disciples, we do not simply learn movements; we inherit a living legacy of culture, aesthetics, and values.

On this sacred Guru Purnima, I offer my deepest Pranams to all my revered Gurus, whose blessings, knowledge, and unwavering guidance have shaped my journey as both an artist and a human being. Their teachings continue to inspire every rhythm I dance and every student I teach.

To my dear students, I offer my heartfelt blessings. May you continue your journey with sincerity, humility, perseverance, and devotion. May you honour the Guru–Shishya Parampara and carry forward this timeless heritage with integrity, respect, and love.

Growing Kathak in Spain Through Moksha Art of Dance – International Success

When I arrived in Spain, I brought with me not only the rich heritage of Indian classical dance but also a dream—to establish Kathak as a respected and accessible art form for people of all cultures.

Through Moksha Art of Dance – International Success, I have been working to build a bridge between India and Spain through the universal language of dance. My mission is to preserve the authenticity of the Lucknow Gharana tradition while making Kathak meaningful and inspiring for today's international community.

Teaching in Arcos de la Frontera and Jerez de la Frontera, I welcome children, young people, and adults from many different backgrounds. Every class is more than learning dance steps; it is an opportunity to discover rhythm, storytelling, discipline, creativity, and cultural understanding.

My vision for the future includes:

- Expanding Kathak classes throughout Spain.
- Creating performance opportunities for students.
- Organising workshops, cultural exchanges, and festivals.
- Collaborating with Spanish artists, especially in dialogue between Kathak and Flamenco.
- Preserving the traditional values of Indian classical dance while encouraging artistic innovation.
- Inspiring the next generation of Kathak dancers and teachers in Spain.

With over 44 years of experience as a Kathak dancer and more than 36 years of teaching, I remain dedicated to sharing this timeless art with sincerity, passion, and excellence.

Kathak has a growing presence across Spain through schools, festivals, and cultural collaborations, showing an increasing appreciation for this classical Indian dance.

My dream is that one day Spain will become one of Europe's important homes for Kathak, where people of all ages and cultures can experience the beauty, spirituality, and joy of this magnificent tradition.

Moksha Art of Dance – International Success is not only a dance school—it is a cultural journey, connecting hearts through rhythm, storytelling, and the timeless language of Kathak.

✨ A Heart Full of Gratitude ✨

Yesterday, I had the great honor of performing at Teatro Villamarta as part of the beautiful production Laberinto de Raíces.

Opening this artistic journey with Kathak was a deeply meaningful experience. Standing on that stage, I felt the power of dance to connect cultures, histories, and hearts.

I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to the organizers, Centro de Baile Jerez, and especially to Victoria for her kindness, support, and trust. Thank you for welcoming me into this beautiful artistic family.

My sincere thanks also go to all the staff, dance teachers, performers, and students who participated in this wonderful production. You are truly beautiful people, both as artists and as human beings. From the very beginning, you treated me with warmth, respect, and generosity, and I will always be grateful for that.

As a Kathak dancer from Sri Lanka living in Spain, it was a privilege to share my art on such a prestigious stage and to celebrate the connection between Kathak and Flamenco through dance.

Thank you to the audience for your support and appreciation. The memories of this special evening will remain in my heart for a long time.

✨ Honored to be Part of this Beautiful Gala ✨

I am delighted to announce my participation in the upcoming Gala de Baile organized by Centro de Baile Jerez.

This year's Flamenco production, "Laberinto de Raíces" (Labyrinth of Roots), will begin with a special Classical Kathak performance by me, creating a bridge between two powerful dance traditions that share rhythm, expression, footwork, and passion.

As a Kathak dancer and teacher from Sri Lanka, it is a privilege to contribute to this artistic journey and to share the stage with talented Flamenco artists in a performance that celebrates culture, unity, and human connection.

✨ A Truly Memorable Day at Centro de Baile Jerez ✨

My heartfelt gratitude to Centro de Baile Jerez, Director Victoria Ramos, Flamenco Teacher Cristina Otero, and all the talented dancers for welcoming me so warmly and giving me the wonderful opportunity to share the art of Kathak with you.

This experience holds a very special place in my heart, as it was my first opportunity to teach Kathak at a dance institution in Spain. It was a day filled with joy, learning, cultural exchange, and mutual respect through the universal language of dance.

I was deeply impressed by the enthusiasm, dedication, and talent of the dancers at Centro de Baile Jerez. They learned with remarkable speed, embraced every movement with curiosity and passion, and brought such wonderful energy to the session. Seeing their smiles, excitement, and willingness to explore a new dance tradition was truly inspiring.

My sincere thanks to Victoria Ramos for her trust, support, and vision in creating opportunities for cultural exchange through dance. I am also deeply grateful to Cristina Otero for her kindness, encouragement, and artistic generosity.

At Centro de Baile Jerez, I experienced not only professional excellence but also warmth, friendship, and a genuine love for dance. This made the day even more meaningful and unforgettable.

Dance has the power to connect hearts across cultures and countries. Through rhythm, expression, and movement, Kathak and Flamenco came together in a beautiful celebration of art, creating a bridge between India and Spain.
