Impotenza. Sofferenza.
E il suono del oud come unica presenza.
Questo è ciò che ho tentato di raccontare.

Questa danza ha visto la luce per la prima volta nello spettacolo di solidarietà “Io ci sarò”, organizzato da Najma Al Sharki lo scorso 18 ottobre al Teatro di Montecarotto (Ancona).
Un viaggio danzato e narrato ispirato a una storia vera: la storia di una donna e quella di molte altre, attraversate da eventi tragici che non sono eccezioni, ma quotidianità.

Amo le danze popolari: ciò che parla delle persone, delle comunità, della vita reale, della mia terra di tradizioni vive e di verità. È il mio marchio di fabbrica, è la mia fonte di gioia e non è una novità.

Ma quando sento l’urgenza di esprimere qualcosa che mi attraversa nel profondo, ho bisogno di cercare altrove.
Nella sua forma classica e "performativa" il raqs sharqi è un linguaggio che non mi rappresenta e che non mi ha mai rappresentato realmente: troppo strutturato, levigato, edulcorato.
Un linguaggio che non mi permette di scavare, di dire ciò che voglio e ciò che devo.
Dei codici che sento forzati, un'estetica che non mi appartiene, che nasconde e limita più di quanto riveli, intrisa di eredità coloniale e di una immagine che è più proiezione di come "gli altri" mi vogliono e ci vogliono rispetto a quella che è la mia verità e la verità della maggioranza delle donne arabe che conosco.
Per questo se parlo di me, del mio intimo e delle mie emozioni, ho necessità di cercare nuove forme, nuovi codici.

Solo miei e di nessun altro.

Scavo nella memoria del mio corpo, nel mio vissuto e mi affido con fiducia e curiosità a una parte di me libera e indomita che non ha bisogno di rispondere a delle aspettative e non ha paura di fare errori perché, come dice il mio maestro, "l'artista dice ciò che vuol dire nel modo in cui sente di dirlo. Essere capiti e apprezzati è solo una rara e fortunata coincidenza".

Questo lavoro è stato un ennesimo primo passo in una direzione nuova.
Ma quei tre minuti e mezzo sul palco li ho sentiti in ogni fibra del mio essere, come non mi succedeva da tempo.
E so che da qui inizia per me un nuovo viaggio tutto nuovo: personale, umano, necessario.

Two years ago, I discovered this wonderful community.
Last year, I had the honor of taking part as a speaker at the conference.
This year, I’m even more honored to have been invited again.

This event is a source of growth, inspiration, and dialogue — and I believe that the reflections emerging from this extraordinary initiative are not only important but essential for our community.
