في تصعيد جديد، ألقت جهات أمنية، مساء الثلاثاء 29 سبتمبر، القبض على الصحفيين إسلام بركات ومحمد عادل، المحررين بمنصة "متصدقش"، ولا تزال الجهة التي تحتجزهما ومكان وجودهما غير معلومين حتى الآن.
يأتي ذلك في إطار هجمة أمنية شديدة، تستهدف "متصدقش" بدأت في وقت متأخر من مساء الإثنين 28 سبتمبر، بالقبض على الزميلين الصحفيين محمد أشرف وعبدالله قدري، بعد مداهمة منزليهما والتحفظ على هواتفهما وأجهزة اللابتوب الشخصية، فضلًا عن تكسير عدد من محتويات المنزل.
وتثير هذه الإجراءات المتتالية قلقًا بالغًا، خصوصًا مع عدم إعلان أسباب واضحة للقبض على الزملاء الأربعة، أو إتاحة معلومات رسمية عن أماكن احتجازهم أو الجهات التي تتولى التحقيق معهم. تقوم المبادرة المصرية للحقوق الشخصية ومديرها حسام بهجت بالتمثيل القانوني لكامل أعضاء فريق متصدقش.
وتؤكد "متصدقش" أنها منصة صحفية مصرية تعمل بصورة معلنة، وأن ما يقوم به صحفيوها هو أداء واجبهم المهني في التحقق من المعلومات ونشر الحقائق، التزامًا بالمعايير الصحفية، وبالحقوق التي كفلها الدستور المصري لحرية الرأي والصحافة والنشر.
ونحمل السلطات المعنية المسؤولية الكاملة عن سلامة الزملاء الأربعة: إسلام بركات، ومحمد عادل، ومحمد أشرف، وعبدالله قدري، ونطالب بالكشف الفوري عن أماكن وجودهم وأسباب احتجازهم، مع تمكينهم من التواصل مع محاميهم وذويهم.
ورغم ما يحدث، نؤكد تمسكنا باستكمال عملنا الصحفي، والقيام بواجبنا في التحقق من المعلومات ونشر الحقائق، دون التخلي عن مسؤوليتنا المهنية في الالتزام بالمعايير الصحفية في التحقق والتوثيق والنشر.
Security Crackdown on Matsadaash Escalates as 2 More Journalists Are Arrested, Bringing Total to 4
In a further escalation, security authorities arrested journalists Islam Barakat and Mohamed Adel, both editors at Matsadaash, on the evening of Tuesday, September 29. As of this statement, their whereabouts remain unknown, as does the identity of the authority holding them.
The arrests are the latest development in an escalating security crackdown targeting Matsadaash. The crackdown began late on Monday, September 28, with the arrests of our colleagues Mohamed Ashraf and Abdullah Qadri, following raids on their homes. Their mobile phones and personal laptops were seized, and during one of the raids, security forces also damaged household contents and personal belongings.
These successive arrests are a matter of grave concern, particularly as no clear reasons have been provided for the detention of any of the four journalists. No official information has been made available regarding their whereabouts or the authorities responsible for investigating them.
The Egyptian Initiative for Personal Rights (EIPR), under the direction of Hossam Bahgat, is providing legal representation for all members of the Matsadaash team.
Matsadaash is an independent Egyptian journalism platform that operates openly. Its journalists are carrying out their professional duty: investigating and verifying information, establishing and reporting facts, and serving the public interest in accordance with professional journalistic standards and the rights to freedom of opinion, journalism, and publication guaranteed by the Egyptian Constitution.
We hold the relevant authorities fully responsible for the safety and well-being of our four colleagues — Islam Barakat, Mohamed Adel, Mohamed Ashraf, and Abdullah Qadri — and call for the immediate disclosure of their whereabouts and the reasons for their detention. They must be granted immediate access to their lawyers and families and afforded all rights guaranteed to them under the law.
Despite these developments, we remain committed to continuing our journalistic work and fulfilling our responsibility to investigate, verify, document, and report facts in accordance with the highest professional journalistic standards.
