As a playwright, director, choreographer, songwriter, screenwriter, actor, dancer, designer, graphic artist, painter, cultural administrator, activist, and institution builder, Alwin Bully's impact was felt and deeply appreciated not only at home but also throughout the region over many years. His influence in building a modern and dynamic Caribbean theatre aesthetic is well-known, however, his work transcends artistic forms, national boundaries and reach its zenith with his immeasurable contribution in sustaining the cultural lifeblood of his people and inspiring generations of artists and cultural practitioners to action.
The Alwin Bully Foundation is therefore a statement of intent to memorialize the work of this outstanding man of the people - this artist, cultural administrator, father, inspirational figure, educator, brother, husband, Caribbean man, and this Dominican hero.
