Calling young writers, animation directors, character designers, storyboarders and voice actors across Europe! 🌍

Our friends at AVENUE COVE is inviting you to participate in AVENUE PRIME TIME LAB, where we will bring together multidisciplinary teams to develop original animated series concepts designed for a teenage and adult audience together with top-level mentors from the European animation industry.

There will be two labs, one in August and one in September, but most of the participants will only have to come for one of them, depending on specialization.

If you are accepted into the lab, AVENUE covers travel to Viborg, accommodation, breakfast and lunch.

The deadline to apply is May 14th.

This week, we visited Tjele Efterskole as part of our initiative FTAG – Filmtalent Animation & Games to meet students with an interest in creativity, storytelling, and animation.

Former Filmværksted Viborg residents Maria‑May Backhaus Brown and Mads Theodor Bonde shared the journey behind their first animated short Vandpyt (Puddle). Using the film’s development as a starting point, they openly shared both creative constraints, problem-solving approaches, and the DIY mindset that proved crucial to the project.

By screening the film and talking openly about the process, they showed that animation doesn’t require years of experience or large resources to get started — just an idea, commitment, and the courage to try.

Hopefully, the visit has helped open the door to the many possibilities of animation – both as an art form and as a potential future path.

FTAG is FVV’s nationwide initiative, bringing animation out into creative schools and associations across Denmark through talks and workshops at the students eye level. The events are completely free.

8 months gone in a flash 🥹
Last week we said goodbye to our lovely portfolio group, who have all just sent off their applications to The Animation Workshop.

Since September, they’ve worked tirelessly on building their portfolios and supporting each other through big creative leaps and late‑night breakthroughs.

The Animation Producer Programme is back! 📣

FVV’s training programme is for aspiring producers — tailored for anyone curious about the world of animation production 🚀
Whether you're an animator dreaming of producing your own film, or a live‑action producer curious about working with animation, this is your chance to learn from industry professionals, build your network, and take your first steps into animation producing.

The programme is divided into two segments:

💻 March–April — Online masterclasses (open to everyone)
🏫 May–June — In‑person workshops in Viborg (application required)

This programme gives you a deep dive into the many roles of an animation producer — from short films to features and series — and helps you figure out what kind of producer you want to become.

🔶KOSMOGONIA🔶
In an infinite night, The Grand One, a bison goddess, comes across The Little One, a goat-like goddess. A friendship is born, and with it, a new world, stars, the sun, the earth, and al lliving beings. Animals emerge from the waters and grow, a luxurious forest flourishing around them. As the world evolves, the two goddesses are surpassed by their own powers of creation.

'KOSMOGONIA' will be part of the Filmværksted Viborg Screening next week - hope to see you there! 🚀
