56/100 Is the struggle real? Wanting to paint portraits is easy, but the hard work begins at ex*****on.

A few tips that’ve helped me:

📍Create a mood board with your portraits/ inspiration so when the time comes to put the brush down, you have a great place to begin. I use Pinterest for that.

💖 Begin by painting someone you admire. Your favorite musician, actor, or family member

💌Note to self: it won’t be perfect (far from it, actually), but the key is to move forward and learn from your mistakes 🙌🏼

Created this portrait today of beautiful Sade because I admire her storytelling, the way she creates content for brands she loves, the things she reflects on her blog and the beautiful tones in her photographs.

51/100 Raise hour hand if you’ve had a crazy year. You aren’t alone, friend. Honestly, I can hardly remember what normal is anymore... although I’m starting to think these extra ten pounds are it!

When so much around me feels so upside down, I find it helpful to remind myself what it really means to be ‘home’. That can certainly be a physical place, but isn’t also a feeling ? For me “home” is my grandmas flower garden.

I know I can’t change that she is getting old so I’m doing my best to accept it and enjoy my time with her over video calls or a short weekend visit. Sometimes, when I’m away from her, even the smell of roses in the air can take me to her garden.

Now you tell me: what is the feeling of home for you ?

Next question: what happens when you don’t get it ? I, for one, never skip my oatmeal because I would feel “off” all day. It’s crazy over here as I prep for a live YouTube demo, so you won’t catch me skipping my fuel these days😀!
