Váli Theatre Lab

Váli Theatre Lab Theatre company based in Holstebro (DK). Founded by Alice Occhiali and Valerio Peroni (actors, directors and theatre pedagogues).

Váli Theatre Lab is a theatre company founded by Alice Occhiali and Valerio Peroni, based in Holstebro (Denmark). The work of Váli Theatre Lab is focused on the production of theatre performances and on the creation and realization of pedagogical projects for children, teenagers and professional actors. In the years the theatre company has developed collaborations, in the city of Holstebro (Denmar

k) and in other European cities, with several institutions such as: kindergartens, primary schools, secondary schools, high schools, universities, theatre schools, elderly care houses, centers for social assistance and help. The two founders are actors, directors and theatre pedagogues. They met in 2013, while working in an international theatre company in fix-residence at Nordisk Teaterlaboratorium - Odin Teatret. In this period they take part in street performances, site-specific performances, theatre concerts, organisation of private and public theatre events, project of theatre for the community, organisation and leading of theatre workshops. In 2016, they started an independent path together in Italy. Since the same year, they collaborated with international theatre groups and institutions in and from Italy, Denmark, Germany, France, Poland, Albania, Greenland, Scotland, working as actors, organising and directing theatre performances, site-specific performances and workshops. Since 2019 they settle down in Holstebro (Denmark) and found Váli Theatre Lab that have been part of Nordisk Teaterlaboratorium - Odin Teatret. In November 2024 they left Nordisk Teaterlaboratorium - Odin Teatret and worked as indipendent artists under the name Váli Theatre Lab.

🌍✨ QULLAQ arrives in Riga! ✨🌍

After unforgettable stops in Glasgow, Copenhagen, and Nuuk, our theatre concert QULLAQ continues its journey as part of Baltic Music Days 2026 — and this time we land in Riga 🇱🇻

This special project brings together an extraordinary group of artists: Greenlandic musicians and performers (Nive Nielsen, Hans-Henrik Suersaq Poulsen, Miké Fencer Thomsen), Scottish composer and violinist (Aidan O’Rourke), and Italian theatre directors based in Denmark (Valerio Peroni & Alice Occhiali).

What makes each performance unique is the collaboration with local musicians: in each performative place, the core ensemble opens up to collaboration with local string ensembles that enriches the soundscape and makes each presentation an unrepeatable event.

In Riga, we are thrilled to be joined by Ensemble for New Music Tallinn and a string quartet from the Latvian Music Academy.

We truly can’t wait to create together! 🎻🔥

The Baltic collaboration on QULLAQ has been made possible with support from Creative Scotland; Statens Kunstfond; Nordisk kulturkontakt; Dansk Komponistforening and the Nordic Council of Ministers.

One of the most distinctive performances in the Nordic programme explores Arctic cultural traditions through contemporary collaboration.

Qullaq brings together musicians from Greenland, Scotland and the Baltic region in a theatrical performance that combines ancient Inuit drum-dance traditions with new music and storytelling.

The title Qullaq means “to rise” or “to climb upward”, a fitting reflection of the festival theme We Live in Different Times.

The work brings together voices, instruments and histories from different northern communities, creating a performance that moves between ritual, folk tradition and contemporary composition.

If you’re curious to know more about our multidisciplinary pedagogical and performative project FREMTIDENS PULS at Sygehusgrunden in Holstebro, give a look to the beautiful article on Færchfonden’s website 💫

We are almost at the end of the first session of LAB and we are working with so many talented and inspiring students from Balletskolen Holstebro, Det Jyske Musikkonservatorium, Dansk Talentakademi, and MGK Midtvest. We’re incredibly excited for what lies ahead in the coming months, leading up to our final site-specific interactive performance this June at Sygehusgrunden, as part of Holstebro Byfestival 2026 🎭

A heartfelt thank you to all the students and schools involved for their energy, openness, and dedication.

A special thanks to our collaborator Tomek Wróblewski, for shaping and giving life to this vision with us, and for bringing on board such inspiring artists like Johannes Søgaard (Visual artist) and Hubert Świerad (Photographer and Videomaker).

THE PATH OF ACTIONS is back

We’re happy to share the new edition of THE PATH OF ACTIONS, our residential theatre workshop led by Alice Occhiali & Valerio Peroni.

Pedagogy has always been at the heart of Váli Theatre Lab: training as a space for research, transmission, and encounter. This workshop is part of that ongoing journey — a place where practice, creation, and human experience meet.

🗓 22 June – 3 July 2026
📍 Brogården Kulturvæksthus and Teatret OM, Ringkøbing (Denmark)

We’ll work between indoor training and outdoor site-specific creation, exploring the theme ELSEWHERE as a poetic space between memory and imagination.

We are happy to share with all of you this fantastic news:

✨ Færchfonden will support a new edition of 𝐅𝐫𝐞𝐦𝐭𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐬 𝐏𝐮𝐥𝐬 𝐢𝐧 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔! ✨

After the incredible success of 2025, we are proud to continue the journey next year with an expanded, deeper, and even more inspiring version of the project.

From February to May 2026, a new creative journey begins with 𝙁𝙧𝙚𝙢𝙩𝙞𝙙𝙚𝙣𝙨 𝙋𝙪𝙡𝙨 𝙇𝙖𝙗, culminating in June 2026 with 𝙁𝙧𝙚𝙢𝙩𝙞𝙙𝙚𝙣𝙨 𝙋𝙪𝙡𝙨 𝙋𝙚𝙧𝙛𝙤𝙧𝙢𝙖𝙣𝙘𝙚𝙨.

Students from Holstebro’s performing arts schools —
Dansk Talentakademi, Det Jyske Musikkonservatorium, Balletskolen Holstebro, Den Danske Scenekunstskole, MGK Midtvest, and Holstebro Musikskole —will be guided by Váli Theatre Lab and Tomek Wróblewski, in professional workshops and masterclasses through a cross-disciplinary process.

With 𝙁𝙧𝙚𝙢𝙩𝙞𝙙𝙚𝙣𝙨 𝙋𝙪𝙡𝙨 𝙇𝙖𝙗, we are creating a shared space where young artists can meet, create, explore, and learn together — and in the final phase, the collaboration with international professional artists will enrich the creative process even further.

Over four months, theatre, dance, music, and visual arts will merge and transform, becoming 𝐟𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐝𝐚𝐲𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐞-𝐬𝐩𝐞𝐜𝐢𝐟𝐢𝐜 𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞𝐬 in the unique spaces of Sygehusgrunden during 𝗛𝗼𝗹𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗯𝗿𝗼 𝗕𝘆𝗳𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗮𝗹 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲.

Our heartfelt thanks go to :
🙏 our collaborator and friend Tomek Wróblewski (Follow Concept) with whom we have created this project full of hope for the future;
🙏 Sygehusgrunden for the availability of its incredible spaces and the nourishing collaboration;
🙏 Holstebro Kommune for the opportunity to be part of Byfestival 2026;
🙏 all Holstebro’s performing arts schools and their students for their enthusiasm and trust;
🙏 and above all, Færchfonden, whose support allows this project to truly fly high.

A new journey is starting —
and we cannot wait to step into it ✨

Enjoy this amazing teaser realised by Hubert Świerad/Underside Agency during Holstebro Byfestival 2025 and follow us on our SoMe for updates during the process.

Happy Birthday to our Master Eugenio Barba, director of Odin Teatret✨️ All our gratitude to you, for all these years of work and research in theatre. You were there when Váli Theatre Lab took its first steps, helping and supporting us. We have chosen together the name and to celebrate we had a "Skål" with a very good vodka in your office with Julia Varley. We will never forget that moment, and we will never forget all your precious teachings. Thank you for your care and your love. It is from you that we learnt the real meaning of the word "Resilience". This world needs you and we wish you many more years of theatre!!! Tanti Auguri Maestro💐
