Váli Theatre Lab have taken on the responsibility of keeping alive the spirit of the Laboratory through the transmission of the knowledge, practices, and values we received during more than ten years of professional collaboration with Odin Teatret.
Our commitment is directed toward the new generations of artists living and working in Holstebro and abroad, creating a bridge between the heritage we have inherited and the artistic possibilities of the future.
We describe ourselves as a LOTUS FLOWER.
Our roots reach deep into the fertile soil of history, drawing nourishment from the experiences, traditions, and knowledge that shaped us. Yet our flower floats on the waters of the present, responding to the challenges, questions, and transformations of contemporary time.
Like the lotus, our petals close in darkness and open to the light. We believe that artistic work is a continuous process of renewal, awakening, and growth.
Our color is blue—the color of spiritual wisdom, rebirth, and creation. It represents the search for depth, clarity, and imagination that guides our work as artists and educators.
Along our journey, many other lotus flowers, each different and unique, will bloom beside us. Together we will float on the transparent waters of art: firmly rooted in the earth, conscious of where we come from, yet always ready to be carried by the currents of the spirit, discovery, and creation.
In this way, Váli Theatre Lab seeks to cultivate a living artistic ecosystem—one that honours its roots while continuously opening itself to new voices, new generations, and new possibilities.
This vision has already begun to take shape through FREMTIDENS PULS ("The Pulse of the Future"), a project that embodied these principles over the course of five months.
FREMTIDENS PULS was conceived as a theatrical laboratory and creative forge, bringing together more than sixty students from Holstebro and around ten professional artists who collaborated closely with us throughout the process.
The project became a living space for encounter, transmission, and creation—a place where experience could be shared across generations and where artistic practice became a common language. Through workshops, performances, research, and collective experimentation, participants were invited to explore the relationship between roots and future, tradition and innovation, individual expression and collective creation.
For us, FREMTIDENS PULS was more than a project; it was a concrete manifestation of the path that Váli Theatre Lab wishes to pursue. It demonstrated how knowledge can be transmitted without becoming static, how heritage can remain alive through practice, and how new artistic communities can emerge when people gather around a shared commitment to creativity and human exchange.
