Habibi Jazz
100 × 150 cm, Acrylic
Hammamet–Medina is remembered not for its streets, but for a feeling. The scents of spices, perfumes, and ho**ah aromas, the melodies of oriental jazz, belly dancing, wine, dinner, and the gentle hum of the local atmosphere and its visitors all merged into a pleasantly groggy chaos from which this painting was born.
I do not paint the guitar or the tambourine, but the music; not the drums, but the rhythm. Not the doors, but what lies behind them.
Time has carried away the details, but it has not managed to take the feeling.
This is an oriental jazz improvisation of a memory that has endured for more than twenty years.
I do not measure time in years, but in memories that have found their canvas.
