As a young sound designer, Ben Burtt was our North Star - a legendary creative deeply inscribed in sonic canon. I could hardly imagine that one day I would walk through the door of Lucasfilm as part of our design team, showing our teeny tiny sounds and miniature play offerings in the place it all began.

I didn't get to meet Ben, but to be any part of the Star Wars universe is such a dream and an honor, and to lead the audio team that built the nanosynths and sound ecosystem for the SMART Brick has been the project of my lifetime. To combine these two is surreal!

This Sunday, our little bricks will finally be available in stores and in your hands. Join us LIVE on LEGO.com to see the sets and play up close, chat with some of the designers, learn a bit about the platform design and technology, and even see some LIVE BUILDING challenges! Those of you asking why i've been so quiet these past years, I can finally give you the real answer.

Alongside numerous talented teams, i've been directing the audio side of an interactive play platform that features responsive sound, lights, and generates unique interactions and textures based on movement, impact, light and color inputs. Over time I've built a tiny but fierce cross-functional audio design/engineering/dev team, and we design not only the sounds, but the synthesizers they're generated with, their individual components, and the underlying code.

I'm still releasing music mostly as Ellipsethemusic although I betcha this post will get more traffic than any of my slowly released recent tracks and videos. But i've been so very inspired by bringing joy to children and inspiring them to be creators themselves.

And to top it off, we are launching the first models with Star Wars. It was an honor to create the landscape of such a legendary IP from such a tiny little brick.

my new life is quiet, calm, spacious, full of medieval instruments and ambient art installations. i tend my pond, i experiment with clavichords and organs, i explore rural scandinavia.

i miss the dancefloors and bassbins. but i love the peace and calm and constancy of life in the countryside.
"i'm in my enya years" is my current joke to friends but it's kind of true - retreating to experiment, harmonize, be solitary, feel meditative. it feels right.
