Kai Rossa Art faces. forms. fragments.

I almost didn't post any of these.
Eight abstract portraits that sat around my studio for months — buried in a pile, tucked in corners, scattered wherever they ended up. Not because they were bad, but because I convinced myself they weren't "good enough" to stand on their own.
Turns out, that's rarely true.
Swipe through and let me know which one you'd have posted.

2001 marked my first encounter with visual art. It was the first time I truly noticed the local graffiti in my city and discovered this form of art for myself. The more I walked through the world with this open perspective, the more I realized how much creativity is actually happening on the streets—things you usually completely overlook in everyday life.

2001/2002. No pro camera, just an early, basic we**am. Low resolution, sharp focus. I captured every piece and tag in the city just to analyze the styles on my monitor back home. That’s how I learned. The energy of the old local writers still inspires me today.

After three years of pure theory, endless sketching, and searching for my own style, the moment finally came. My first time at a legal Hall of Fame. Packed with my sketchbooks and my first spray cans. A completely new feeling when your lines suddenly come to life on a massive concrete wall.

After about 10 years, I turned my back on active painting to focus entirely on music and other projects. Today, I know this long break was necessary to find what truly fulfills me. Yet, my eyes never stopped scanning the streets or highways. Graffiti is a part of who I am, and that will never fade.

The restart in 2021. Back to brushes and colors, but on a completely new path. For years, I held a deep respect for this form of art, thinking I wasn't capable. What I've learned? It doesn't matter how you approach it. No rules, no right or wrong. Just create, let it flow, and find fulfillment.

Looking back at the journey, one thing becomes crystal clear: I am incredibly grateful. Grateful that what started over 20 years ago as a wild passion is now my life. Being allowed to do exactly what fulfills me: Art, no ifs or buts.

Learning to love the imperfections.
My creativity always peaks at night, which is when these pages came to life. Some of them features torn sticker labels — not just for style, but because I completely messed up what was underneath! Finding a beautiful way to fix those mistakes changed everything for me. It reminds me that art is all about adapting.

Taking a quick break to show you a few pages from my current sketchbook. 🤘
It’s a mix of random thoughts, practice, and pure chaos. Which page speaks to you the most?
