Under the guiding theme ON DESIRE, a total of 250 invited national and international professionals from art, media and technology presented their projects and ideas in the disciplines: art, TV/film, games and VR/AR.

Sad news: Wolfgang Kohlhaase has died at the age of 91. He was one of the best-known screenwriters in the GDR. We will remember him with his films like "Solo Sunny" and "Berlin - Ecke Schönhauser".

With CHAPTER ONE ROOT ABOUT, visual artist Nadine Eleni Kolodziey creates fascinating three-dimensional anthropomorphic figures that appear as floral formations. She transforms the image of nature and changes the way we experience it. Portraying the nature virtualized, she playfully questions the interactions with our technologized environment in the future and shows the viewer a speculative reality of nature, with the possibility of connecting to it in new ways.

Wolfgang Petersen, director of the German global success "Das Boot" and numerous Hollywood blockbusters such as "Outbreak" and "Air Force One", has died. He passed away in Los Angeles at the age of 81. We bow to the great director and wish him a good last journey.

Another film of our art program ist WYE // In WYE, an immersive three-screen film installation, Mikhael Subotzky treads the tumultuous terrain of the “white male psyche”. When three fictional protagonists travel between England, South Africa and Australia, their projections onto these landscapes mirror colonial mindsets in the historicised past, the vexed present, and an imagined post-corporeal future. An unsettling and beautiful piece, WYE tackles white guilt with demanding complexity. While, on one screen, we inhabit the intrinsically arrogant mindset of a 19th-century British settler on his arrival to the Eastern Cape, on another we follow a 21st-century South African man who walks a Port Elizabeth beach seeking a ‘blank canvas’ free of crime and ‘politics’ before emigrating to Australia. Franklin Leonard is a film and television producer and entrepreneur. He is the founder and CEO of The Black List, a yearly publication featuring Hollywood's most popular unproduced screenplays. A graduate of Harvard University, he was the recipient of the 2019 Writers Guild of America, East (WGAe) Evelyn Burkey award for elevating the honor and dignity of screenwriters. He is a member of BAFTA and The Academy. He currently serves on the board of directors for Young Storytellers, an arts education nonprofit organization. We are honoured to introduce DORIS DÖRRIE as one of our speakers: Doris Dörrie, born in Hanover, studied acting and theatre in California and in New York before she decided to work behind, and not in front of, the camera. Men, her third film, was a worldwide hit. Alongside her work in cinema (including, most recently, the motion picture Cherry Blossoms and Demons) she is a highly praised author of short stories, novels and children's books. She lives in Munich, where she teaches creative writing at the University of Television and Film. ___________________________________________ Doris Dörrie, geboren in Hannover, studierte Theater und Schauspiel in Kalifornien und in New York, entschloss sich dann aber, lieber Regie zu führen. She participated in the production LICHT IM DUNKEL, which was awarded the 3rd INTHEGA Prize in 2013. She was nominated for the Ikarus Award for her role in schwarzweißLila at Grips Theater Berlin. He is a Programme Advisor to the BFI London Film Festival, Venice Film Festival and Noir in Fest, Milan. He is Founding Director of Shots in the Dark Festival, Nottingham. In 2012, Adrian received an Honorary Doctorate in the Arts.
