With a virtuoso ease, she uses dance and language to examine how prejudices and fears of the unfamiliar shape the dynamic between people. What glasses should you wear to really see more clearly?

As our second to last performance of the festival we are looking forward to welcoming Laika, theater der zinnen and hetpaleis with their performance LIGHT/HOUSE.⁠
⁠
A lighthouse stands on an island in the middle of an unpredictable sea. The lighthouse keeper ensures that the lamp stays on, regardless of the weather, day and night, without a break, even if it gets dangerous for himself. Out of a sense of duty, he guides the sailors through troubled waters to the safety of the harbour. His only companions are a work colleague and a poet, who looks for inspiration. The three men wait to be relieved. They dream of home, but nobody comes to get them. The world has forgotten about them. How much longer can they hold out? How long will they keep the fire alive in the lighthouse and in their hearts? How long before they go insane?

PLAYING PLACES is a playful invitation to the audience to rediscover Max-Joseph-Platz together with the performers as a stage for everyone and as a meeting space. Existing structures and hierarchies are questioned and the framework they seem to provide is exploded. The square in the centre of the city, bordered by traditional cultural sites, becomes a dazzling interplay of a redefining urban society: where pigeons practice flying every day and city visitors rest on the long bench in front of the Residenz, playing places encourages people to enter into a relationship with this hustle and to experience it from different perspectives.

We are looking forward to welcoming Second Hand Dance with their performance WE TOUCH WE PLAY WE DANCE for our youngest audience!⁠

It is never too late to become a dance fan. Four dancers twirl around the room and invite small and tiny children to take part in this warm-hearted, playful performance. The music is mixed live by a DJ. “We touch, we play, we dance” is an uplifting performance for children under three years old and is full of surprises and unforgettable moments. Parents will be amazed at how their children react to the dancers. All is allowed: You can also just watch and listen.⁠

We are looking forward to welcome the Munich based artist Moritz Ostruschnjak with his performance AUTOPLAY for three shows during the festival.⁠
⁠
With AUTOPLAY, the Munich based choreographer Moritz Ostruschnjak has created a dance mash-up from 1000 thefts, in which every copy & paste action is promoted to a leitmotif.⁠ AUTOPLAY sends the audience into a space of never-ending hyperlinks, which result in the most unlikely connections, and combine to form a narrative. Utopia and consumer terror, sub culture and populism always are only one click away from each other.

It is sport and it is dance.⁠
It is a space and it is a bend. It is jumping and landing⁠
it is falling and getting up again⁠

“Matta Matta” is a performance about safety and risk. Three lose themselves in an adventurous space of gymnastics mats that fit like pieces of a puzzle. This piece was developed specifically for sports halls at schools and toured very successfully through Denmark and Sweden. It can now be seen in the rest of Europe in its longer version and with a new cast.

Welcome to the world of sound of Compagnie Zonzo, which is welcoming you in Munich for the first time. ⁠
⁠
There is just enough space in this round magic box for a very small audience and one soloist. The Japanese percussionist Tsubasa Hori plays the taiko drum as well as many other instruments and tells stories from her country. Her starting point is the bon dance: A colourful ritual honouring ancestors, which is celebrated extensively in Japan. She creates a magical world, a merry-go-round of transformations of images, movements, and sounds.

Our first school performance will be DANCE MACHINES!⁠

This could be the school of the future: The Brasilian choreographer fuses virtual, analogue, and auditory worlds in her piece “Dance Machines”. The artistic team around Rossi has designed a futuristic dance lesson, which the students experience on their own bodies via VR glasses and headphones: The galactic-utopian avatars of two professional dancers meet the audience in the virtual dance studio. They give movement impulses, ask questions and guide the audience through dance steps and choreographies. “Dance Machines” humorously plays with the perception of body and movement across different media and explores the virtual space as a place for dance.

Our opening act of the #9 edition of our festival will be UNDERDOGS from France!⁠
⁠
In UNDERDOGS Anne Nguyen dives deep into the collective subconscious of the rebellious outsiders of our society: Who are these people, who stir up the city as the underdogs of soul music, reminiscent of the political climate of the 70s in the United States? How do their bodies imprint themselves onto the cityscape, how do they break with norms that long have ceased to fit? A woman and two men embody the collective urban subconscious in their dance. They bring the societal and cultural legacy to light, they clash, they distance themselves from each other. Their body language reveals the deep-seated relationships that connect these three personalities as residents of the same city.

Alle, die keine Tickets mehr bekommen haben, laden wir ein, die Performance im Ampere der Muffathalle live übertragen anzuschauen. Der Eintritt ist frei!

Das ursprünglich als Begleitprogramm zum Festival angelegte Austausch-Format findet in abgewandelter Form statt. Es wird verkürzt und nach jetzigem Planungsstand in einer gemischten Form aus Teilnehmenden vor Ort und Videokonferenz abgehalten.
Neben Künstlergesprächen mit den Choreograph*innen Joke Laureyns, Kwint Manshoven (Kabinet K) und Christine Devaney (Curious Seed) gibt es einen Vortrag von Katarina Kleinschmidt (Universität Hildesheim) über Reflexionspraktiken sowie einen Impuls-Workshop zum Hören, seiner Vermittlung und zu dramaturgischen Konzepten bewusster Sinneswahrnehmung (Christiane Plank-Baldauf und Johannes Gaudet).
Im Zentrum steht die Frage nach evozierten Wahrnehmungsweisen im Tanz für Junges Publikum und den davon ableitbaren bzw. darauf anwendbaren Methoden des Austauschs darüber
