We are proud to announce DARB ZUBAIDA - A HIKING TRIP, a film from Türkiye directed by Dunya Alatva, as the winner of Best Short Documentary at the AFAQ International Film Festival 2026.

The documentary follows 150 hikers on a 96-kilometer journey along the historic Darb Zubaydah pilgrimage trail, exploring its rich heritage while celebrating adventure, cultural connection, and the human spirit.

Set on the Polish-Belarusian border, the film follows Paweł, overwhelmed by caring for his dying father, and Ali, a Syrian immigrant seeking safety. An unexpected deal brings them together, forcing both men to confront their prejudices and learn to cooperate despite their differences and the language barrier.
