"Toho no Tenshi III" (The Eastern Angel III).

An angel with two long braids and ornate wings. She is wearing an embroidered costume and ribbons, and flying in the orange-colored space. Flowers and plants are showering around her.
The artist's comment on her works: "I was always asked if my works were based on some kinds of myths or stories. They are all from my imagination. The strange creatures, humanoids, plants ... all of them do not exist in the real world. These 'beings', which I often draw, do not have any hierarchy in their existence. Although some titles were interpreted as 'master', the relationship among the being is more like 'friends'."

Asahi Mio creates a fantasy-filled world and tells her own myths and folklore featuring mythical creatures such as dragons, sea monsters, phoenixes, and other beings. These imaginative figures come alive in the atmospheric elements: swirling wind; billowing clouds; fierce fire; and water torrents.

Asahi Mio's main color scheme is black or orange-red together with off-white. She adds only a few colorful highlights, sometimes combined with gold and silver-colored metallic pigments. This limited palette accentuates the meticulously rendered figures which populate her well-defined compositions.

This is based on information from the U.S. Customs and Border Protection website – CSMS 64649265 – Guidance – Reciprocal Tariffs, effective April 5, 2025, with exceptions under classification 9903.01.31:

"Articles that are informational materials, including but not limited to, publications, films, posters, phonograph records, photographs, microfilms, microfiche, tapes, compact disks, CD ROMs, artworks, and news wire feeds."

The Japanese prints offered by Artelino art auctions fall under HS codes beginning with 9702, which are defined as:

"Original engravings, prints and lithographs, framed or not framed."
