‘Stop Breaking Down’ - BBP cover on the album Live im Probenraum (2021)

The original by Robert Johnson was recorded in 1937 - but it didn’t become popular until we covered it in 2021. 😎 Just kidding.

The track reached a wider audience when recorded their version for Exile on Main St. (1972).

The sweetest audience of BBP – Bullenkuhlen Blues Project – right next to the music room 🐱

Another favorite of mine, out of the many blues-rock covers we’ve made over the years.

‘Stray Cat Blues’ dropped on Beggars Banquet (1968) and really shows that raw, gritty blues-rock side became known for.

Fun fact: the recording process was filmed for a documentary, and at one point, a fire actually broke out in the studio (caused by the hot film lights). Everyone got out safely, but most of the equipment didn’t make it. Luckily, the tapes were saved.

BBP - Bullenkuhlen Blues Project - is finally on Spotify & YouTube 🥳🎧

One of the bands I used to play drums with back in the day. We played plenty of blues-rock covers, and this one always felt special.

“Just Got Back From Baby’s” (from first album) perfectly captured my Mondays back then - flying back from adventurous weekends with my girl.

Go check it out on Spotify. Link in bio 🔊

I often used to say that things just “happened to me” in life, and that I wasn’t the one in control. So how did I end up founding my mixing and mastering studio?

In 2019, I found a suitable room to start playing drums again. At first, I played alone, but soon with bands. The room received some acoustic treatment, but the live sound still wasn’t great. To improve it, I invested in a recording setup: microphones, headphones, and a mixer. Finally, we could hear each other clearly, and the feeling of making music was amazing! But once the practice ended, that feeling ended with it.

Since I already had the tools for recording, I thought: why not give it a try? Maybe it could capture more than just the sound. And it did! Still, the sound could have been better…

So, on my way to becoming a better drummer, I started chasing the perfect sound.
Studies. Experiments. More studies.

In the meantime, I recorded every session we had with the bands and mixed and mastered the songs we played. I enjoyed the entire process, continued my studies, and supported other bands and musicians in becoming better. And that’s when the idea of More Than Mix first appeared.

🎵 So, what does making music feel like to you?

My musical life began when I started playing drums at the age of 12. In fact, it began even earlier, when I recorded radio hit lists on cassette in my parents’ living room.
By the time I was 14, I had gained experience working in a small analog recording studio, assisting with productions and even doing my own. I was also involved in theater and live event lighting and sound, from school events to open-air festivals.
After a few years and my first experiences with bands…

…a long break…

I rediscovered my passion and started playing drums again. With the support of great teachers like .rohde and , as well as access to a suitable place, I developed my skills playing in various bands ranging from rock to blues over the last seven years, and I recorded extensively in the rehearsal room.
Since 2021, I have attended HOFA College, where I successfully completed my training as an audio engineer. Lifelong learning: I continue my journey with the “Hofa Audio Diploma” program in 2026.

Story of the longest wave 〰️ finding the lows

At .rohde ‘s studio, drum teaching, recording, and video production all share one room. Andi wanted to make sure the space truly supports his work — so we took a closer listen. 👨🏼‍💻

📈 We measured the room acoustics at multiple positions, focusing on the low end. Why? Because the mid- and high frequencies have been treated already by him, now it´s time to tackle the low ones. And this is more difficult, as they travel far and pe*****te obstacles (you rather feel it than hear it).

✅ Now Andi has clear insight into his room and a solid foundation for the next step. More is coming soon.

What helps me the most to give you the best mix? My studio.

Why is the environment so vital for creating a high-quality sound? The control room in a studio is specifically designed to allow you to hear every nuance of your mix as accurately as possible, which is critical for making decisions about EQ, levels, and overall balance.
That’s why mixing in a proper acoustic is crucial—so your song will translate well across all playback systems.

A huge thank you to the amazing team at for the incredible planning and implementation of the studio acoustics! 🙏 You helped me not only to get the acoustics just right, but you were also quick and constructive when unexpected challenges came up.

With bass traps, diffusers, acoustic curtains, and my DIY absorbers, my workspace is exactly how I envisioned it.
Of course, there’s always room for improvement – but more on that later! 😉
