23 m², ganz oben, im 5. Stock dieses Hauses in der Mannheimer Hafenstraße. Eine Gegend, so wunderschön und abgefu**ed zugleich. Aus dem Fenster hat man den besten Blick auf die blauen Neonlichter der Aral-Tankstelle und den malerischen Sonnenuntergang über dem dreckigen Verbindungskanal. Wenn man sich umdreht, sitzt da dieses Mädchen auf der Bettkante und guckt einen verträumt an.
Drei Jahre verbrachte Paul Jacobi hier. Das erste Studium, die erste Therapie, die erste echte Liebe.
Paul Jacobis Debüt-Single “Einzimmerwohnung” gewährt einen ungeschönten Einblick in dieses kleine Universum. Verhalten, zwischen Reue und Reflexion, erzählt er vom Ankommen in diesem Raum, der eigentlich gar nicht seiner ist und doch mehr und mehr von ihm und seinen Emotionen eingenommen wird – solange, bis irgendwann gar kein Platz mehr da ist. In außergewöhnlich hoch gesungener Lage entschuldigt sich Paul, auf sanft wummernden Beats und melancholischen Samples für sein Verhalten. Echte Geschichten aus einem Leben das genau so passiert ist.
"love yourself, fu**ed up" macht zu melancholischem Post-Punk Schluss mit den Illusionen von gestern. Denn keiner bleibt, wie er ist und die Selbstliebe-Mantren und der überall propagierte Individualismus sind auch nur so lange von Dauer, bis wir unser aller Zukunft mit Anlauf vor die Wand fahren. Alles Gute hat schließlich seinen Preis.

Was war das denn? Da dachte man nach der “Am Ende des Tages EP” kurzzeitig verstanden zu haben, wo sich musikalisch grob einsortiert. Irgendwie Indie. Irgendwie Pop. Aber da schwingt doch auch Rap mit!? Und dann kommt er mit “Klimpa Klimpa” um die Ecke und mäht mit diesem 90s House-Weirdo sämtliches Schubladendenken nieder.
Wer da achselzuckend und irritiert zurückblieb, findet in “Was ich will” vermutlich eine Erklärung. Über eine irgendwie an Thundercat erinnernden Bassline stellt Dominik Hartz da unaufgeregt klar: “Ich mach einfach immer nur was ich will” - Okay. Das macht Sinn. Und Bock.
Soll er machen was er will. Anscheinend fährt er gut damit.

Mit ihrem Video zu „Blinder Fleck“ machen auf ein Thema aufmerksam, dass in den vergangenen Jahren zunehmend drängender wurde. Die Jahresgesamtzahl aller wohnungslosen Menschen in Deutschland lag in 2020 nach Schätzungen der Bundesarbeitsgemeinschaft Wohnungslosenhilfe e.V. bei ca. 417.000. Ca. 45.000 Menschen leben im Lauf eines Jahres ohne jede Unterkunft auf der Straße.
„Blinder Fleck“ ist ein Aufruf, nicht wegzuschauen und sich den Problemen unserer Welt zu stellen. Für das Video hat die Band hat einen Abend lang den Verein begleitet. Der Verein unterstützt obdachlose Menschen mit warmem Essen, Kleidung und menschlicher Begegnung auf Augenhöhe und zeigt damit: Wir alle können jederzeit vor der eigenen Haustür anfangen, etwas Gutes zu tun. Ganz so wie es im Song heißt: „Wir beginnen jetzt hier“. Mit der Veröffentlichung des Songs ist außerdem eine Spendenaktion für den Verein verbunden.

NARA’s melodies hit us in our emotional and motoric center. Clean and simple – exactly the way you want a pop song to be – but unexpected enough to be unmistakably NARA melodies. And those make us melt away or dance our hearts out. She paved her way to become a popstar in early childhood. When she was eight years old she called an opera singing teacher – who only trains adults – and convinced him to teach her. She was his student until her age of 15. From then on there was no turning back. She studied singing and piano and moved to Berlin to become a singer/songwriter. Music is, was and will be NARA’s life.

It is the introspective new song from Welsh solo artist Bryde. Embarking on a discussion about the different kinds of love, Bryde looks to channel divine feminine energy in this piano-led ode to self acceptance. With nods to Cat Power, Sufjan Stephens and Tori Amos, it's a meditation in 6/4 timing, orchestrated by Harpal Mudhar and produced by Jim Wallis (Bella Union). “Divine love, for me, is a non-judgemental love. Silver Suns is about reflecting and growing within the safety of that.” says Bryde aka Sarah Howells. “I wanted it to be a beacon of hope in all the darkness of recent times”.

Ho ho ho…. Today you guys are in for an early Christmas present. decided to share the first song he ever recorded. A perfect one to slow down to during the holidays.
"Last Dawn is the very first song ever I wrote and recorded in my bedroom back in the winter of 2006. It's a peaceful 4-track acoustic guitar song. At that time I had no idea what I was doing, I just pushed the "record" button for the first time and I started to play. I've always had a warm heart for this song. In a way it always came back in my mind whenever I felt bad and I kept on playing this song throughout the years. I think, exactly 15 years later, it's the right moment to release this tiny little tune.“

Smalltalk and DMCs has been out for a little while now but we wanted to do something for MWB. Like with all of our music we try to talk about the nitty gritty, uncomfortable topics in our lives and Married With Bruises is no exception. It weighs heavy on me sometimes when I see that I am being treated differently to my band mates. Is it because they have wi***es and I don't? Or do I allow myself to be spoken to in a way that they would never accept? The one thing I am so grateful for is that my band mates see it too and they always have my back when they see it happening. I never really confront it but you can be sure I'm gonna write a song about it and that's why married with bruises is so special to me. It was my place to vent when I felt I was being treated differently or unfairly or being spoken to in a creepy way just because I am a woman.

Two years in the making and almost 6 years since their debut single, producer/writer Luke Hester and singer/writer Lucy Hill will release Overflow in two parts – the first of which will be out on October 19th, with the B-side to follow early in 2022.

“Have you ever been on the receiving end of some misplaced anger or blame? Or noticed that some people around you are so preoccupied with their own life, that they forget to ask something simple, like, “how are you?”. We certainly have and we're certain that we can all be guilty of this at some point, so we wrote “Misery” as a little reminder to live in the moment and not to blame others when things aren’t going right.”
