Even with a chainsaw and 120 cm sword it is a challenge to cut the 2 m diameter oak trunk to make large objects, the trunk has to be turned and both cuts have to meet.

The oak wood must lie for a very long time to come to rest, to lose all tension. Only then is it possible to create something like these vessels, they will no longer crack and retain their image.

Galerie Philia is proud to announce its summer exhibition taking place in two villas designed by Jean Nouvel and commissioned by Rive Group on the luxurious Côte d’Azur

Villa Maeterlinck in Nice and villa in St. Jean Cap Ferrat, both are perfectly integrated into the landscape and boast terrace gardens in front of wide private sea views on the Mediterranean.
Tillandsias in St. Jean Cap Ferrat and Monsteras in Nice were planted by Jean Nouvel as an ode to there aerian roots. This specific fauna is in complete harmony with the aesthetic of the influential architect whose innovative aerian principle transforms buildings into dematerialised natural environments.

It is my joy to be part of the extraordinary exhibition entitled
"JEAN NOUVEL: RACINES AÉRIENNES".
It is the first time that Jean Nouvel's private villas have been used for exhibitions of art and sculptural design.
The exhibition take place from July 28th to October 14th.
