„LIC #1“ (2023)

Paul Fabozzi about the series “Curved Locators”:

“Wandering in New York, Rome, Istanbul, Rio de Janeiro, London, and Berlin, I am drawn to specific buildings as points of confluence for my urban drifting.

Curved architectural forms manifest various ideals - formal, symbolic, functional. I find myself inside places designed for worship, entertainment, material consumption, contemplation, transportation, and governance.

The paintings and drawings in this series are a tactile and visual record of my intuitive reckoning with these spaces—a way of forcing them to look back at me.”

Bea Garding Schubert

'Heroes' is a song by singer-songwriter David Bowie. It was co-written by Bowie and Brian Eno and recorded in 1977 at Hansa Studio by the Wall.

A product of Bowie's "Berlin" period, the track was not a huge hit in the United Kingdom or the United States after its release, but it has since
become one of his signature songs. The song tells the story of two lovers, one from East and one from West Berlin. Bowie's performance of „Heroes“ on 6 June 1987, at the German Reichstag in West Berlin has been considered a catalyst to the later fall of the Berlin Wall.

Following his death in January 2016, the German government thanked Bowie for "helping to bring down the Wall", adding "you are now among Heroes".

Marija Nikolic, .art is an emerging visual artist based in Belgrade, Serbia. After graduating from art school Tehnoart Beograd, jewelry department, in 2009 she entered the Faculty of Fine Arts in Belgrade, where she obtained a Master’s degree in Painting in 2015. Upon completing the studies she participated in a number of group exhibitions, had six solo shows and took part in a few art colonies. Marija has been a member of the Association of Fine Artists of Serbia since 2020.

“I am a visual artist whose current visual expression is deeply rooted in the aesthetic thought of abstract minimalism and postminimalism. I create artworks on paper and canvas by exploring the possibilities of a framed and clear geometric form.

My work revolves around the exploration of color harmony, values, shapes, and perfect proportions. The starting point is a minimalistic approach and reexamination of the form of painting in an effort to reach aesthetic harmony. Line as a clash of two surfaces is the base
building element and as such is present on the majority of artworks.

My works are distinguished by geometrization, simplification and reduction of everything unnecessary. By focusing on a single point of light and by building the painting around it, I’m exploring the descriptive boundaries of a colored surface.” ~ Marija Nikolic

“My work is inspired by nature and my paintings are an appeal to respect the ecosystem. I use mostly natural materials such as tempera, putty, cotton fabrics on wooden boards that I custom design and produce.

I think respect is the foundation of every relationship, the principle on which to build lasting and sustainable cooperation and interchange. My goal is to leave a mark of beauty and peace.

I live the pictorial experience as a means of pure pleasure to feel emotions, to convey feelings. My stylistic and chromatic research is aimed at building a creative expression that speaks a common language. I believe that collaboration and interchange with other artists can generate new ways of rethinking the time we live in." - Timoteo Sceverti

We are happy to announce the representation of Italian artist Timoteo Sceverti, who recently joined the gallery team.
Welcome, Timoteo! We are looking forward to a great collaboration.

Timoteo Sceverti was born in San Benedetto del Tronto in 1971 and after an artistic high school education, he completed his studies in Milan at the European Institute of Design.

A multifaceted artist, he explores and experiments with the various fields of art; he moves from the creation of single-copy art books, which wins the 1992 Lombardy Region Prize, to graphics, which becomes his profession, and finally to painting, which he has always been in love with.

From Milan, he moved to the island of Cyprus where he was fascinated by the Mediterranean imagery of the God Pan. Back in Milan, he collaborated with Vogue Italia frequented the artistic circles of Berlin and lived for a period of time in Jamaica, where he established a close collaboration with the JBDC Jamaican Business Development Centre, teaching the island's young people and women graphics and design applied to sustainable development.

His travels and professional experiences enriched his cultural and artistic baggage and the formal plasticism of his early works was enriched with the transparent colors of the Mediterranean and the vivid tones of the Caribbean, shifting towards refined informal visions.

His works can be found in public and private collections in Italy and abroad. Chosen as an Italian exponent, he was included in the shortlist of the best international artists by the Art Bank of Asia.

Today he lives and works in the Abruzzo region, Italy.

"Flowers are giving all their energy into attracting insects with their vibrant blossoms and their magic scent. They flourish fiercely and unconditional, without anxiety or regret."
- Miriam Smidt

•••••••••••••••••••
About the series:

"When we fall in love, our brain increases dopamine release and reduces the activity of some areas such as the prefrontal cortex as well as a network around the temporoparietal. These areas are important for rational decisions and for evaluating other people socially. With this effects we enter a state of frenzied liveliness, living the moment and feeling its uniqueness... You can observe a similar tumult in the development of the awakening nature in the first days of spring.

Spring metaphors are the most popular symbols for the process of falling in love. My vibrant and intensely vivid body of work with the title “Spring Awakening” refers to this heady feeling of aliveness and love frenzy that we humans experience simultaneously to nature and its creatures when the first warm rays of sunlight melt the last ice as well as our hearts in spring. The works are reminiscent of floral structures in the midst of a metamorphosis - exploding with blossoms and colorful seduction - a call to seize the moment without fear or regrets."
- Miriam Smidt

Let’s start the week with the beautiful “Sakura - April” (2022) by Eun Vivian Lee
Pigments on canvas, 48 x 48 in.

The artist about the “Sakura” series:

“When people talk about cherry blossoms, also known as sakuras, the first mental image that forms is its iconic pink flowers in full bloom in spring. However, beyond that season, the cherry blossoms are almost forgotten. The trees still stand where they were, their appearances now ordinary, but they are still breathing, still changing, and still growing.

The pace of modern life makes it easy for us to slow down and look within. Without introspection, it is hard to achieve growth. People overbook themselves. We live in a generation of gadgets and devices that have decreased our attention span. Because of these aspects of our society, I wish to provide an opportunity for the viewer to view and appreciate the comfort of simplicity. Nature gives us so much, yet many refuse to reciprocate and instead take it for granted. It is important to appreciate the entire journey, instead of only the month of spring when the sakuras bloom, in order to give our thanks to the earth and to the enjoyment of living.

Therefore, I embarked on a year-long project to emphasise the notion of appreciating the minute beauty that nature offers us every moment of the day, whether we are cognisant of it or not.”

„The Sakura Series - March“
Pigments on paper
48 x 48 inch

“This series is celebrating the year-long evolution of the Sakura, beyond its blooming stage in April.

I feel we often don’t pay attention to little things and people are focused on instant gratification. Cherry blossoms are appreciated universally, but we forget that those trees stand in position and survive through all year seasonal change.

I wanted to celebrate the beauty of nature that we normally neglect - the existence of life at all moments of time.” - Eun Vivian Lee
