Den Raum hat sich das diesjährige Diskurs-Festival der Angewandten Theaterwissenschaft als Ausgangsthema vorgenommen. Vier Tage lang war zu sehen, hören und zu begehen, was die eingeladenen Künstler und Kollektive dazu erarbeitet hatten.
DECONSTRUCTING GROUND CONTROL
Die Ground Control öffnet heute um 15:00 für eine letzte Kritikrunde und lädt euch zum Bruch ein um anschließend um 20:00 von allen interessierten BauarbeiterInnen gemeinsam dekonstruiert zu werden. //

Marie Gavois, lebt und arbeitet als Künstlerin in Stockholm / S. Michel Klöfkorn, Filmmacher, lebt in Frankfurt / D. Marie Gavois und Michel Klöfkorn arbeiten seit 2012 zusammen an verschiedenen Projekten.

SoloPerDiskurs / Annika Pannito
Wie verändern Raumbedingungen den Tanz? Annika Pannitos Choreografie ist ein Ergebnis ihrer Forschungsarbeit 'Piazza', die 2014 begann. Mit 'Piazza' meint sie einen architektonischen Raum, der gleichzeitig auch öffentlichen Raum darstellt, um Ideen und Gedanken auszutauschen. Where are you now?
- I am physically in Madrid, Spain. I am also in a very interesting moment of my life and work, re- thinking myself as a choreographer, questioning my work and looking for new forms to expand my practice.
Is there a place you would prefer to be right now?
- I must say that I am quite happy with my current position!
What is your approach to space?
- Space is one of my main interests and a fundamental topic of my work. I approach space in different ways and I am learning to look at it as a topic from different angles. When I practice, I like to approach space in a physical way, observing the characteristics of the studio,theater or site where I happen to move. I then try to establish a dialogue with it and the spaces of my own body to see what conditions might arise and possibly be the ground for a movement research. In my current project, the question what kind of space does a dance generate, how that specific space can be experienced as 'common' and how space gains signification and purpose and is distributed within a choreographic frame is a central topic. In that sense, I am approaching space more as a situation and an environment where questions and thoughts can arise and initiate a dialogue among the ones present during a performative event.
What does GROUND CONTROL mean to you?
- My first thought goes to an impossible thing to do. also, a posture from a martial art immediately pops up in my head. My second thought goes to rules and principles that I use, for instance, as an attempt to control and direct a creative process. GROUND CONTROL makes me also think of knowledge of/over something, or at least the process of production of a certain knowledge. GROUND CONTROL is perhaps a condition that allows to question that knowledge and open up to other influences and expertise.

Where are you now?
- I am sitting beside a river and it is autumn -September 12, to be exact, at around 10.30a.m. In 20 min I will have to leave here. I am writing something. This. In about 19 min. it will be sent away. In 22 days, 2 hours before 10.30a.m., I will board a train near here, following it.
Is there a place you would prefer to be right now?
- There is a place and time I would prefer to be right now. My inner time would be now, the year would be 1998, the place would be 150 km from here. The weather would be stormy but warm for the season. The wind would almost lift my feet from the ground.
What is your approach to space?
- I am travelling through space and time on feet, like a snail through a backyard. I can choose the direction in space -mainly in the two dimensions of a surface-, but not the direction in time. If I could go much faster, I could slow down the time relative to Earth. But I can't. Space is the dimension of my limited autonomy.
What does GROUND CONTROL mean to you?
- If I am a point, you are the end of my expansion.
If I am an eye, you are my storm.
If I am an astronaut, you are my GROUND CONTROL.
Performing Architecture / Ariadna Cantis
ist Kuratorin, Kritikerin und Autorin mit Fokus auf Architektur. Ihre Arbeit konzentriert sich auf die Kommunikation und Dissemination in Prozessen der Stadtplanung, städtischer Architektur und städtischem Design. Sie führt einen kritischen Dialog über die Grenzen von und zwischen Architektur und zeitgenössischer Kunst. Beim DISKURS 15 hält sie einen Vortrag zu ihrem Projekt 'Performing Architecture'

TOURGASM: Gießen / FREIZEIT
Das Performance-Kollektiv FREIZEIT um Ina Weise, Nima Keshtkar, Danielle Kourtesis und Iva Kirova lässt BesucherInnen in die Rolle von Hypertouristen schlüpfen. Gezeigt wird Profanes, Alltgägliches, Irdisches. Gemeinsam werden Orte in der Stadt besucht, fiktive Stadtgeschichte produziert und die Grenze zwischen Sehenswürdigkeit und Sightseeing-Location ausgelotet.

- We are spaceplayers. We play with the ways in which reality and image intertwine so that it is difficult to determine one from the other. Our artistic strategy consists of creating fictional situations or roles and portraying them as real to subvert the predominant images of the city.

- We are suspicious of GROUND CONTROL. We work to subvert the control, power and dominance manifested in urban spaces.

Animaciones I / Ana Laura Lozza
Die Argentinische Choreografin und Tänzerin Ana Laura Lozza, nähert sich in „Animaciones I“ der Macht von Bildern und nutzt Tanz als Möglichkeit, diese Macht zu hinterfragen und zu verunsichern. Unterstützt durch die Tanzkünstlerin Emma Tricard und Videokünstlerin Catalina Fernandez durchkreuzt das Stück die tiefsitzende Annahme der raumzeitlichen Fixierung von Bewegungen in Choreographie und Erlebtem in Fotografie. - No
What is your approach to space?
- I see space moving while I move. So for me space is a flexible body. At the same time, I know that the consideration of space in our world is a construction that has strong political implications, it determines to a big extent who we are; it has a big impact in our development as persons and as societies, which means that we are allowed or denied to certain experiences of space. As a dancer coming from a strict ballet education I learned precise and fix ideas about a space that privileged frontal perspective and verticality. Through different improvisation and somatic techniques I tried to undo those principles thinking that this would free me from those rules. However, I ended up exploring those same principles in my choreographies from different angles. In Animaciones I, I examine the frontal perspective, like in a painting or in a photo, taking it to an extreme exaggeration. In this way, I am playing with the question of how the images with their two dimensional characteristic can fall into the three-dimensional space and the fourth dimension, which is time and which together form the performance situation. I explore how movement can arise from static experiences of space time. I was also fascinated by the agreements we make in order to measure space and how we define our space through relations to others, objects and infrastructures. This is also visible in the work.
What does GROUND CONTROL mean to you?
- First, it makes me think about the infinity of outer space and our desire as human beings to transgress our limitations. A second thought about GROUND CONTROL these days is connected to our personal motoric evolution. I see it every day in my son. He is 5 months old and he is trying to gain control over the ground to move forward and up. So the first connection with our world starts on the ground, and I mean it in the sense that we spend almost one year of our lives with our full bodies, either on the back or on the belly in touch with the ground. Something we don’t do very often later on when we mainly use our feet, unless we are lying on the beach, or on the grass, or creeping as combatants in a war, or do some somatic or contemporary dance practice.
