We do more than just finger paint.
The Cellar Gallery gives opportunity to artists to display their works in a ‘one night only’ visual & musical exhibition. The underground space celebrates artists with an intimate opening night allowing viewers into their creative visual world.

Aim: to uncover the hidden artists currently living in Berlin. Artists flock from all around the world to create, be inspired, engage themselves in the biggest ‘artist hub of the world’, Berlin. Hidden away in their studio artists work in isolation to create visual displays of their interpretation of the world.

Berlin lost yet another building of studios last week, a troubling trend that may end up pricing artists out of the city.
The on-going question...

Pricing your art is different from making art; it's something you do with your art after it's made, when it's ready to leave your studio and get sold either by you personally or through a gallery, at an art fair, online, at open studios, through an agent or representative, wherever. Making art is ab...

Artists may be among the greatest individualists in any society but some contemporary practitioners, anxious about the future of the culture, are piloting projects that aim to educate and sustain their younger peers. Chris Ofili, one of Britain’s

Life is too arbitrary to say there is one or ten right ways to “do it”, but as in the movies, there are a few story lines, which repeat themselves with slight variations. So what seems to have worked over and over again? Here is a list.

The Cellar Gallery is sad to announce an uncontrollable closure.
After only opening in June this year The Cellar Gallery has been the home to 10 one night events, 5 theatre shows, 7 musicians with 40 artists exhibited. The space evolved from a lot of hard work (vacuuming!), organising and support from everyone through the doors. We appreciate all the help from everyone involved that helped create a space that was so unique, a place where people came to enjoy fine art, watch talented actors, see live painting and listen to live acoustic music.
Thank you
-Meaghan
(PS keep your eyes peeled for the new location to host the 12 x 12 inch exhibition, coming soon)

ALL THE PRETTY GIRLS is a new play set in Rostock, in 1979 by the writer Ncube. It’s the story of 5 prisoners and the eventual torture they suffer at the hands of a monkey, a snake and a dog, before being drowned. This is in response to the war-crimes they committed in Zaire in the 70s. It’s a black comedy; with similarities to Monty Python and dollops of sincere sentimentalism that harks back to playwrights like Chekov
‘I didn’t choose to be born in Zimbabwe. Moving to England at the age of 14 was not my decision. But coming to Berlin is. Germany is the first place in the world where I have chosen to stay in. I was born in 1984 and I had no purpose till I discovered that the storytelling tradition of my ancestors lived in me. This was at the age of 8; or the year 1992. Jump to 2013 and I now average 1, 000 words every half an hour or 10, 000 words a day. I’ve written 11 novels, 9 plays, 6 film scripts and 1 TV show. This play is important to me for many reasons. The most pertinent one is that it tackles one of my preoccupations: how a person can go through hell with a heavenly grace. Humour also plays a key role in this macabre. It’s the thread that unites them with us. I’m grateful that the work exists in this form.’
