Deep blue, suspended between figuration and abstraction.

In this work, Gregor Kalus transforms ink into an atmospheric image that seems to emerge from darkness. Fluid layers of intense blue create depth and movement, while the motif remains deliberately elusive — shifting between landscape, memory and imagination.

Behind the scenes with Hilde Trip as she prepares new works for 𝗙𝗿𝗮𝗴𝗶𝗹𝗲 𝗣𝗲𝗿𝗺𝗮𝗻𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲, her third solo exhibition at Schlieder Contemporary.

We have been representing the Dutch nature artist since 2020, and it is always fascinating to witness how collected natural materials are transformed through her meticulous process into precise, poetic works that preserve the fragility of nature.

Geometry in perfect balance.

Soft shades of blue and pink unfold across Árpád Forgó’s precisely constructed shaped canvas, creating a composition that seems to shift between symmetry and movement. Light and shadow become part of the work, continuously changing its depth and spatial presence.

A painting that refuses to remain flat.

*We are especially pleased to share that Árpád Forgó is currently an artist-in-residence at the Albers Foundation in Ireland — a fitting context for an artist whose practice is deeply rooted in color, geometry, and spatial perception.

Architecture becomes abstraction.

The architecture of museums and cultural landmarks is a recurring source of inspiration for Patrik Grijalvo’s three-dimensional photographic collages. Rather than simply documenting a building, the artist deconstructs its architectural language and transforms figurative photography into abstract, sculptural compositions.

For this work, Grijalvo turns to the iconic Pavillon Le Corbusier in Zurich — the architect’s final realized building and a striking synthesis of art, architecture and colour.

In his three-dimensional collage, Grijalvo deconstructs the Pavilion’s distinctive forms, vivid colours and façade elements, reassembling them into a new spatial composition. Perspectives shift, surfaces project outward and overlap, and photography becomes sculptural architecture.

Árpád Forgó’s shaped canvases create a striking material illusion. Resembling precisely folded origami or finely crafted ceramic, they appear to be made from a rigid substance.

Yet each work is composed solely of stretched canvas and paint. Suspended between painting and sculpture, Forgó pushes the boundaries of the medium, transforming a fragile, lightweight material into a sculptural presence of remarkable precision, depth, and architectural clarity.

Installed in a private residence: “Practicing”, a light installation by .

The illuminated Plexiglas arrows combine sculptural precision with the immaterial quality of light. Their presence shifts with the viewing angle and time of day—moving between artwork, light object, and architectural intervention.

Gregor Kalus’ ink paintings balance observation with imagination, often carrying a subtle ambiguity that leaves room for interpretation. At times playful, at times provocative, his works invite viewers to question what they see—and what they believe they see.
